I think I know where you're coming from, pretty much the unique idea well has dried up and we're kinda forced to make the same type of gun over and over without variation like the rifle/huntsman.
Which is why I'm hoping the robot update brings some new, fresh things into the game.
Think the ability to make & submit your own robots would be really cool.

Yeh that is understandable. But the way you say it, i think, is not "building-up" creativity on aspiring artists/designers. All of what you said has valid points, not denying that and infact i support many of them. But keep in mind, these are not professional artists and designers we're talking to here in these forums. Of course we are bound to hit a wall of reharshes cuz valve polished the design cues very well. But it's been well documented that even great modders and designers have been driven away from this craft because of tactless speech of their peers, how much more for newcomers? I'm not saying that we sugar coat every comment we give but the way you comment has a very serious tone all the time and its very very easy for anyone to take that harshly even though you have the best intentions in the world.

I'm not here to pat everyone on the head and tell them how nice their new clothes are. If someones naked, I'm going to tell them.
People deserve positive reinforcement when they do good work. And when I see it, I'm all over them with praise.

Players are robots built by a weapons development company for live-fire testing.
No set classes, but players customize their robot with different weapons and addons and things, aswell as one of a few chassis bases that define core traits (speed, hp etc)
Gamemodes would include pvp matches with your usual deathmatch and ctf kind of things, including one where weapons etc are cycled during the match ("Okay, now we need to test this one!")
They would also have team vs npc combat, which got increasingly difficult as waves progressed (similar to games like KF). Maps for this would be dynamic, with new pathways and areas opening and closing as the game progressed to prevent camping in one spot.
