While that may look better, it wouldn't make much sense as the sniper has his eye on the scope and it would be pretty awkward for him to hold.

Atleast I think it was for the pomson when I drew it, might have been the frontier justice I drew it for before he got the pomson, all you'd have to do is add a pomson reload slide to it anyway.
