just seemed weird to me, because of their hard stance against v models for so many years, to the point of ruinging a few items quality (like the Scottish Resistance).
However it seems the mad milk animations rotate the c model around, so maybe it worked out better for those animations
Ah, just checked the bone has a different placement in the V and W model, probably to match the throwing animation between in world/view model, the third person/first person animations are often different.
it doesn't work in sfm, even if i just replace the spy
and in gmod it probably wouldn't hurt
Why doesn't it work?
As in, like, animations are broken?

Lol, I wish they'd go back and undo c models for the grenade launcher, scotres and flamethrower too :(

I thought you said they didn't bother you on your big list of problems though ;)

c models are on the list, number 6
I've been doing a poster in the SFM, and this is what has turned out the idea. Why not make a soldier coat

Who will do it? If any who are interested add me in steam
It would look cool, but probably botch class recognition too much. The coat is one of the main things that makes a Medic distinguishable at a distance.

List of things that don't bother me
- Soldier loading nothing into his rocket launcher/Demoman with no grenades in the grenade launcher/Spy doesn't load a clip/whatever similar bugs. I just don't really care. They're so minor compared to other bugs, and none of them are particularly fixed easily.
Advantageous page placement? How convenient, I just finished coloring this rocket launcher requested and denied by Eeshton, so I might as well take the opportunity to leave it up for grabs.

C models broke lots of other stuff though too, like lowering its quality nd the random floating grenade on death

say you're homeschooled, and any autodesk program like 3ds max is 100% free.

Eeshton, Jal and I think Ronin use blender and all three of them are great modellers.

That doesn't change that getting familiar with something which is arguably better is smarter then getting familiar with Blender when they're both free, it's like choosing Petting Zoo pony over a strong work horse.

It does, actually. Considering figures of $30k through $150,000 annually are being paid to authors of these 3D models--if these were done on student editions of programs like Maya and 3DS Max---that violates the student edition of the programs since they are being used for commercial purposes. I'm sure Autodesk doesn't care if you're lying about being a student to make some mods or model something for your friend, but if you're pulling 6 figure incomes off a student edition, that seems like something Autodesk would love to sink their teeth into. Therefore, Blender, being legitimately free, is a better choice.
I'm great with blender but I'll be learning Maya in college so I'll know both soon enough
always helps to know more tools rather than better ones

But if you're learning how to use Max at home you uh, technically are homeschooling yourself. I don't see the issue here, especially since you JUST said for mod usage, which is what a lot of things people create for tf2 are, and you just hope it gets ingame. Max is the better choice for mods seeing how you can get it for free.

I don't think 'There are several recognizable elements, so eliminating one doesn't hurt' is sound reasoning when it comes to item design. Especially not if those other elements aren't guaranteed to be present.
If I glimpsed a Soldier on the other side of the map wearing that coat and holding a shotgun, it would probably take me a valuable second or two to figure out which class it was.
I don't think that applies here. It makes sense with £40 games, but 3DS Max literally costs over £3000. There is no choice but to torrent the software for many people, but maybe they'll buy it later when they've got the money.
Yeah, but if pirates were REALLY smart they'd get something that wasn't overpriced to begin with.

Couldn't one have the grenade/clip/rocket disappear after a short distance in the weapons LOD hierarchy, so that it only appears in first person? Fedora did something similar in his v_model restorations for the Flamethrower.
I use blender.
I find it rather easy to use.
[sp]But I am also a super genius rocket scientist that also models and has good teeth.[/sp]
what?
AutoCAD is in the 3k range for a standard license, whereas McNeel's Rhinoceros3D is a far superior program, and at most costs $300. Both are CAD programs, except that AutoCAD has major shit fits when you start working with solid models, whereas Rhino can handle 2 and 3-curve NURBS surfaces without problems. Plus, Rhino's interface is actually much more user friendly and customizable.
3DSMax's major competitor, Lightwave, while not as deep in discount, is still only half the price. I'm not a big fan of LW's interface (read: I'm LAZY), but if Rhino could handle triangular mesh editing, I'd dump my student edition of Max altogether.
what's that got to do with 3ds max though?
