[t]http://speedcap.net/img/cca7754a73f3b6e154c42d53b9b39637/2a852994.png[/t] [t]http://speedcap.net/img/cca7754a73f3b6e154c42d53b9b39637/355430d7.png[/t] fixed my upside down blade booboo have to fix other stuff late, keep posting feedback
The blade's sharp edge looks completely flat when spattered with blood. On the non-bloodied version, I can clearly see where the blade comes to a point due to the sharp edge having that brighter texture on it compared to the rest of the blade. On the bloodied one, that is gone completely and makes it look flat and not sharp at all aside from the farthest point, which is good for stabbing, but not for slicing as box cutters are made to do. Also, I should warn you now, box cutters are not very good for stabbing people. The blades are fragile and thin as a safety precaution; the worst that can happen is that you'll get a nasty gash, but it's not enough to cut a finger off or stab into someone's back unless you hit someone in an exact location in their spine (and even then, it's more likely to snap in half and cause some bleeding than it is to paralyze or kill). The knives are better at going for the Jugular vein or a soft, unprotected spot on the human body than they are for severing someone's spinal cord or stabbing them in the lung or kidney from behind.
would you be mad if I designed my own box cutter?
would you be mad if I designed my own box cutter?
Don't mind me, I'm just dumping a bunch of rusty knives. They are a small detail, but a model looks much better with something like that. I only like the grenades really.
would you be mad if I designed my own box cutter?
Go for it. Would you be mad if I took inspiration from it?
Guys is it possible to replace the Backstab sounds? and if so where are them located?
Guys is it possible to replace the Backstab sounds? and if so where are them located?
You can replace knife_swing_crit.wav but as far as I know there are no unique backstab impact sounds. It's in the team fortress 2 materials gcf in sound/weapons.
I think you need to model on the screws. They are a small detail, but a model looks much better with something like that.
Flare gun has them textured on, and I'm sure most other TF2 models do too.
Aight boys and girls, did some changes to the American Steel picture, thought you guys would like to see it now:
The Achievement Trophy hat is pretty close for a release. The only issue is that I can't tell which pattern would please the community more. These are the trophies with the reference picture. The thing is that the one on the left uses a goldcube envmap to make it gold like color (like saxxy). And, the one on the right uses a custom greyscale envmap (or a silvercube if you like) to get the same envmap effect but making sure that the basecolor don't get tinted all over by the cubemap texture. As you can see on this experiment with the "Pink as Hell" paint color, the goldcube left a couple yellow highlights over the model while the silvercube make it clean. It can sounds to much bitching around to make that an issue, but it's very distoning when compared with other dark toned colors, like the "Team Spirit Red" for exemple. In my opinion, having the metalic part of the Trophy paintabe is bullshit. I only made this cuz someone* asked for it even though I've told that it would be a total failure. I would rather have the metal with the goldcube envmap and get only the base paintable, like if I liked to use paint that much, then give the metal a pale paint color and different color highlights in the goldcube case or a strange plastic look with the silvercube envmap. No, chage the Silvercube basecolor to something darker brown like doesn't work. It make it looks like Brass or Niquel. Changing light parameters on Goldcube envmap doesn't work either, it makes the whole model goes for a pale effect. So, I'm here to ask for the community taste and opinion. What's better for your? Goldcube envmap and paintable base ( ) or Silvercube envmap with paintable metal ( [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img] )? The picture above display both sugestions in "Team Spirit Blue" If someone know how to fix the yellow highlights or make the Silvercube have a more Gold like look, plz, help. Sorry for the long post, but it was necessary. Now it's all up to u guys.
Full set designs, comments and crits welcome.
Mfth. I personally find this type of random theme sets way too cartoony and nonsensical for TF2. Sorry. This one is cool, the Scout's expression is lovely and I guess it's better at showing off the gun, but it doesn't convey the brilliance of the Soldier's pose and expression as well as the previous one. EDIT: Ninja'd while editing. And informativevotes everywhere!
Mfth. I personally find this type of random theme sets way too cartoony and nonsensical for TF2. Sorry.
Actually its not as entirely random as you would think, its base idea comes from a term that I hear a lot in the gaming community, as well as listed in the glossary of player terms on the wiki. So yeah , the first one could just be a cool little shot.

The themes for that kind of sets generally probably have some kind of reasoning behind them, but I think the individual items end up feeling random and shoehorned. A TF2 character using a semi-random item as a makeshift weapon (The Backscratcher, The Flare Gun, The Brainscrambler) is cool and plausible, but the same character building a custom piece of advanced military hardware to resemble a semi-random item (That set, The Funeral Pyre, Glasha), just feels silly to me. Sorry. If they get made and just released as joke mods, though, I'm of course perfectly fine with everything.
