I did almost the same thing. Crafted it right after day 3 went live. Now i only have 4 scout tokens and 0 primary tokens. Can't blame you since valve doesn't really inform you and there is a big pressure to be the first to get the low craft numbers.

Mine hasn't started at all, and does the same thing when I try what you tried, so you aren't alone.

Try changing download regions and restarting steam as long as the item servers are still down.
