I got the game for Christmas 2007, just after release. I am a veteran Pyro.
I honestly don't think it was crap. I admit, less damage output meant it would be smarter and deadlier to weapon heckle and actually use the shotgun and flaregun, but that's not at all a bad thing. It means the player has to be familiar with the class and how to correctly use its weapons.
In my opinion, adding +10% base damage just makes the pyro less strategic use of weapons and ambushes and more W+M1. In my time as pyro, light, puff, then Axtinguisher or shotgun/flare gun made for a very effective method of attack, while leaving enough room for the enemy to escape or fight back if they have the skill to survive. It was a workable system.
Feel free to disagree with me, I'm rather enjoying this debate since it's still relatively friendly, I just have a different viewpoint. I'm not saying the new pyro is crap and Valve is a piece of shit, I just don't think there was anything wrong with the old system.
Well, the old system made the Pyro rely on unlocks and on a very specialiced niche obtained with a combination of unlocks. I cannot say that is good.

I agree it made the pyro rely on either shotgun/flaregun or an axtinguisher, but I stand by my point: That just means the player has to be more familiar with the class and plan out what they hell they're going to do, rather than W+M1.
I'll admit, I settled into a niche that I liked, but I never thought it much a problem. I had to put up with backburner bastards ever since it came out, and they still get me sometimes.

I see no problems, nor insults, to ANY other class when using exclusively their primaries. I see no problem with Soldiers using the vanilla Rocket Launcher rather than the stronger but harder to use Direct Hit. Why cannot the Pyro rely on its primary without getting a derogative? I don't see complains about Soldiers using only the Rocket Launcher, marching forwards throwing rockets.
I still didnt get my Adult Swim code for some reason, even though i signed up days before the hat was out and ticked the box that says "I want it all".
Its almost 7PM here so ive been waiting for that all day.

They're doing it alphabetically, so if your email starts with a late letter in the alphabet just have patience.

It's a good thing I'm not making an insult or saying there's a problem, I'm just defending the old system of proper weapon heckling.
There's nothing to stop someone from charging into a fight with nothing but a flamethrower, but doing so wouldn't be strategic or logical. Doesn't mean it'll end badly for the pyro, but it narrows it closer to luck.
Anybody that's ever played scout will likely tell you they don't use the scattergun exclusively. If a scout wants to get shit done, he better know how to use all three weapons or pyros (even nerfed), heavies, soldiers, literally anyone will chop him to pieces up close and mid-range. Not much different with the old pyro system. Neither do spies rely solely on their revolver, or demomen on their sticky bomb launchers (technically his primary). There's as much an argument for using a class's full loadout as there is for restraining from using anything but the primary.
This is getting interesting. Gotta watch this doesn't get too hot a topic, though.

If thats the case, mine starts with an x, so fuck me.

They were about halfway through the "ev"s two hours ago, so it'll probably be a while before they get to the "x"s :v:
I really like Doomsday. In fact, I like it so much I made a video of me playing it. Playing it badly, yes, but playing it nonetheless.

My favorite part is where you didn't use the Degreaser with the Axetinguisher.
Like a man.
wow. doomsday is so easily locked down by sentries and snipers... or anything that can just sit in one spot in the middle of the clusterfuck and deal out damage. ive never raged so hard at tf2 in my life. not playing this :\
Got my code.

I've found playing demoman helps that. I took out several sentries by sitting back and lopping grenades or sticky bombs over a ledge to get at sentries. They didn't turn out to be a big problem for demos, actually, more a pain in the ass. I does require some team coordination to ensure the enemy doesn't murder you the second you're in position, though.

Whenever I've played it, there hasn't been enough time for engineers to set up anything heavier than a mini sentry, the map's too small and too easily traversed by rocket-jumping soldiers to have a quiet moment long enough for engineers to set up.

I'm guessing this chicken doesn't want its beak removed. Call it a hunch.
My email starts with a B. i should've been one of the first people... I never got one :(
BA here, got the email already.

Check your spam.
That's where mine was. :<
Got my code and redeemed it, but it's not giving it to me for whatever reason.

one of the reasons i raged was when i played demoman, when i watched the stickies bounce off the cap platform :|
seriously what the fuck just let me defend the cap point with my stickies you... you...

I'm SO happy stickies just roll off, I thought to myself it would be just like CP where a demomen could shut down points in seconds.
Does anyone know if the Scorch Shot taunt kills?
They were about halfway through the "ev"s two hours ago, so it'll probably be a while before they get to the "x"s :v:
Are you sure? Mines is a "do" and I haven't gotten it yet. Not in my spam, either.
Scorch shot does taunt kills.
Does anyone know if the Scorch Shot taunt kills?
I think it does, as I shot one at a scout and he was set on fire. But didnt die.
Just bought a key to open a scorched crate:

I'm drooling on the floor.
So I just turned on TF2 for the first time in forever, I understand this is part of the update but why is it vintage?
are there unique ones?

Ugh, my email is "y"... better go grab a tent and sleeping bag, it's going to be a while.
You get vintage if you login before the 5th and you get normal if you dominate someone with them

It's vintage because it will only be obtainable by dominating someone who is wearing it after july 5th.
