Playing on nospread servers makes the baby blaster a straight downgrade. That pistol though. Equipped forever.
The gun will fire a tighter cone of bullets, regardless if nospread is enabled or not, it will be a tighter cone. This effectively gives it a larger range of effectiveness, much like how the Shortstop has an effective range from short-mid, simply because of a tighter spread. This weapon is going to be the best weapon to kite people with because it increases your speed, it has good effective range, and it has 6 shots to pepper people with.
I don't like the stats of the new Pyro weapon. Why must -x% damage be a drawback? I would like my weapons to do full damage with a cool effect, I don't mind slower firing speed but less damage seems like a really shitty drawback, Everything looks really cool though. Hopefully an entire pyro pack tomorrow.
Pyro is Prometheus? How did he get free and shoo away Archimedes?
Airblasted him into a Roman Spy.
Eh, in my opinion I don't think any community made gun should be in Meet the Pyro. Why can't they just use their flare gun?
The origin of hud hudda hudda hud.
I hope we get that HUD with the update too.
The origin of fire.
EDIT: blast, beaten to it
Also, more soldier items
I'm not gonna complain much about the update until I see what else we get and all the new weapons in action... All I truly care about now is watching MtP - and getting that replay when I airblast the new launcher's triple rockets back into the soldier's face.

Glad to see all of these great item sets got into the game. This plus my favorite class finally getting a "meet the" video will probably make this the best update ever. Not to mention the new gamemode.

Is anyone else reminded of the Unreal Tournament 2004 rocket launcher by this new Soldier weapon?
These weapons are certainly interesting. Out of all of these, I'll probably only use the Scout's pistol, seeing as though the passive effects are pretty nice, and the slower firing speed is excusable since I can never seem to hit anything with a pistol anyway. Sniper's stuff and Soldier's bazooka are a little too gimmicky for my taste. Also, another Flaregun. Not much to say about that.
Valve has a bad habit of making awesome-looking weapons that have absolutely shit effects. (*Cough cough* Sun-on-a-stick *cough*)
I have the oposite of this opinion. It looks unfitting and the stats are interesting and actually useful.. on medieval mode at least.
Valve has a bad habit of making awesome-looking weapons that have absolutely shit effects. (*Cough cough* Sun-on-a-stick *cough*)
no that's a shit looking weapon

Did horse didlos even exist back then?

Im still waiting for that little valve on the tubes on the right to be clickable to send you to a secret page...i am SURE it will be clickable sooner or later

TF2 weapons don't need to fit any sort of theme.
Well...yes, they do. It's called style. When TF2 launched it had style, it was unique, a cold-war-esque spy film based team of mercenaries, with weapons that are pretty reasonable to exist in whatever time period they are in based off the design and computers around the maps originally. A limited colour palette and careful use of special effects to ensure a consistent, but appealing and understandable game. You would know what killed you and which team just by taking a glance. For the first few updates (the ALL VALVE ones might I add), they stuck to it quite well, the weapon designs barely deviated from the originals, but changed the appearance enough to be noticeable. They offered similar, but different playstyles for classes (heavies could be used more defensively with Natascha, Pyros were encouraged to sneak around more, etc). As the community shit started to roll in more and more unfitting stuff appeared, then the promos came along, then the god damn atrocious looking cosmetics and paints. The game has lost the style that attracted me to it in the first place. It's now a clusterfuck of weapons, with hundreds of attributes, classes don't play one defined purpose any more, and all in all, it just looks bad in most cases now. Shit like the Sun-on-a-stick are a perfect example of what Valve have done wrong with this game, it's ugly, unfitting, and in general makes no sense outside of meta reasons, which is pretty inexcusable.
Is it just me or does the Scorch Shot sound kind of terrible? I guess we'll have to see it in action first, but from the stats the original Flaregun still sounds more effective.
ALL NEW WEAPONS OH MY FUCKING GOD

Scorch Shot=I will just push enemies back from my effective range. Much like the airblast, but atleast the airblast has many purposes.

So the new Scout pistol removes any downside to the Sandman? greeeeaaat
Pistol raises scout's health to 143 (150 if valve decides to round up), no fall damage, same ammo count and more time in between shots to aim, no damage reduction, and 50% more fire damage? The only real downside is the fire damage. The same ammo count and no damage reduction means that if you're careful, you could do more damage in theory. Fire damage? Ha. If I can kill the pyro before I die, it was worth it.
