That new roquet launcher is going to be a pain for engineers. I also can't wait to reflect these 3 roquets at the same time and watch the soldier and whoever is with him get instantly gibbed.
Scorch Shot=I will just push enemies back from my effective range. Much like the airblast, but atleast the airblast has many purposes.
I think the Scorch Shot is mostly for dicking with advancing crowds. You get to choose one guy to separate from the pack and everyone else now has to deal with afterburn.
So the new Scout pistol removes any downside to the Sandman? greeeeaaat
Don't mind that the scout will become your bitch if you airblast him into a corner and hit that handy little M1 button for a second or two.
I'm honestly happy with this update.
We're actually getting weapons that change up how the game is played.
And besides, tommorow still has promise!
Well...yes, they do. It's called style. When TF2 launched it had style, it was unique, a cold-war-esque spy film based team of mercenaries, with weapons that are pretty reasonable to exist in whatever time period they are in based off the design and computers around the maps originally. A limited colour palette and careful use of special effects to ensure a consistent, but appealing and understandable game. You would know what killed you and which team just by taking a glance.
For the first few updates (the ALL VALVE ones might I add), they stuck to it quite well, the weapon designs barely deviated from the originals, but changed the appearance enough to be noticeable. They offered similar, but different playstyles for classes (heavies could be used more defensively with Natascha, Pyros were encouraged to sneak around more, etc).
As the community shit started to roll in more and more unfitting stuff appeared, then the promos came along, then the god damn atrocious looking cosmetics and paints. The game has lost the style that attracted me to it in the first place. It's now a clusterfuck of weapons, with hundreds of attributes, classes don't play one defined purpose any more, and all in all, it just looks bad in most cases now. Shit like the Sun-on-a-stick are a perfect example of what Valve have done wrong with this game, it's ugly, unfitting, and in general makes no sense outside of meta reasons, which is pretty inexcusable.
Then don't play
About several thousand people, probably more, would like to disagree with you about the game being ugly because BOO HOO WEAPONS DUN FIT MY VISION OF PERFECTION AND I KNOW BETTER THAN VALVE WHAT THEY SHOULD LOOK LIKE
Don't mind that the scout will become your bitch if you airblast him into a corner and hit that handy little M1 button for a second or two.
The Scout will just double-jump away or blast the Pyro full of buckshot, even better if that's a critical hit.

Oh please, don't blame the community, Valve is the biggest offender. Gibus? First really dumb hat. Halo? mhmm. Oh and might I point out promos came first. Bill's Hat was half a year before the first community update.
The community fixes all of Valve's mistakes, whether or not they implement them. The community has made some of the best items in the game. Don't try to put the blame on them.
nope late
Pistol raises scout's health to 143 (150 if valve decides to round up), no fall damage, same ammo count and more time in between shots to aim, no damage reduction, and 50% more fire damage?
The only real downside is the fire damage. The same ammo count and no damage reduction means that if you're careful, you could do more damage in theory. Fire damage? Ha. If I can kill the pyro before I die, it was worth it.
I like how you changed a downside into an upside there. The decreased firing speed is actually kind of a big deal because spammability is one of the things that makes the original pistol useful.
Even so it does seem a bit overpowered when you put it that way, especially if you're the kind of Scout that never uses his pistol.
Pistol raises scout's health to 143 (150 if valve decides to round up)
Probably 145 HP, 150 HP is already +20% Max HP.

Flare gun is way better, because you can ignite the medic and then kill him with crits.
I'm wondering if I should idle now and get some drops to craft this stuff, or wait til the update hits and hope to get some of the new items in the drop
Can't wait to try out the new weapons. They actually have interesting stats and not the usual +more herp. -less derp. A shame they will be horribly overpriced on release.
Imagine rocket jumping with the new rocket launcher. Rocket jumping with 2 or 3 rockets at once, plus gunboats. It will be ALMOST like the Rocket Jumper.

Please shut up for a second. You'll probably eat up anything valve will vomit out onto this game, especially the UNFITTING, UNSUITABLE, TERRIBLE PROMO ITEMS, SHITTY PAINTS AND A VAST MAJORITY OF HATS.

Well, now double rocket jumping is possible in the default maps now!
Is anyone else reminded of the Unreal Tournament 2004 rocket launcher by this new Soldier weapon?
Definitely. I love it.

I always use pistol and I always use a special autoreload script where it is on for certain classes. With scout, i shoot pistol slowly enough anyway. This will just fit my playstyle more.

True. More likely.

You'd have a real reason to bitch if it was $25 DLC. However its free; and bitching about free stuff even if it's kinda shitty is really just being a dickweed. Please fuck off.

Yep, you are pretty dumb. I'm glad you recognize the truth finally. No, I will not 'eat up' anything valve vomits out, but I am sick of morons like you bitching about free content updates like ungrateful ten year olds.
Welp...
No engie items (as of yet) makes me a sad panda
I still remain optimistic for tomorrow though. Even a new medic item would make me happy
Don't mind that the scout will become your bitch if you airblast him into a corner and hit that handy little M1 button for a second or two.
It's completely possible to stay out of flame range, never mind airblast, and still deal enough damage to dispatch a Pyro with any of Scout's primaries (besides the new one lol)
Was gonna edit my thoughts on the rest of today's stuff into my other post but figuring nobody'd see it I'll put it here:
Fairly disappointed with the new Scattergun, if the stats I read are correct it makes you slower than a Demoman and only does a max of 73 damage. The higher accuracy and speed boost sounds interesting but seeing how it resets every time you jump I just don't think it'll be at all useful, especially not when compared to Scout's existing primaries
New SMG, yay
More guaranteed crits, boo
New rocket launcher sounds pretty ridiculous, hopefully the charge slows you down like the CM5K but even then three rockets at once is a lot of damage, for pretty paltry downsides. I'll have to see how that "3 degrees random projectile deviation" effects things before I pass a true judgement
And the new flare gun sounds alright, trades damage for utility I guess? I hope the ignition radius is the same as the Detonator, though I feel Valve added this specifically for those that wanted multiple ignitions but thought the Det was too hard (it's not you just have to take a bit of time to learn!)
I think the Baby Face's Blaster is going to be very, very interesting. The accuracy boost will make up for the damage in medium range, and you won't need to jump to dodge rockets/etc. if you stay at medium range since you'll have time to avoid it via decent ground control.
Once the speed boost is active, I think the speed can make up for the lower damage even in close range, it'll just take a little longer to kill enemies but it'll take longer for them to kill you as well (you'll be harder to hit if you use the speed well).
In terms of logistics, it probably wouldn't be a good weapon for starting rounds since by the time you'd get to the front without a boost, most of the enemy team would have their flanks covered. Depending on the map, it could be amazing or just awful. Would probably excel in maps like cp_well or granary in which scouts don't have quite as many mobility options for jumps (apart from the overhead pipes at starting points or raised areas at mid in granary), but I probably wouldn't want to give up my mobility in something like badlands.

Meh. The crits are kinda good. They'll help with dealing with crowds and spies. The slower firing speed sort of negates the smaller clip since it forces you not to spam and actually do damage and doesn't eat up the smaller clip as fast.
The rifle will be fun. However the no unscoping during focus will feel odd. The decapitation on headshot will also be a much needed effect for the sniper rifles. Especially the machina at full charge. That would be hilarious.
ANd the TFC Incendiary cannon? Fuck yea. *Must resist urge to put in Fuck yea macro and sacrifice ban*
Guys, calm down, it's a game. It's meant to be fun!
When the Sharpened Volcano Fragment and Sun-on-a-Stick was released, they sort of combined into this deadly combo when teamwork was used correctly. I could care less about what it looks like as long as I'm having fun with it to be honest.
Sure, they don't fit the amazing artstyle that the game was born with, except for the comedic effect. Personally I like the turn the game has taken. The comedic and incredibly unrealistic weapons are the ones that's the most fun to use because it's just so ridiculously silly, but that's still just my opinion.

Er, pretty much any class can kick the ass of a pyro if they know he's coming, except for a spy, who's low dps means he'll probably get raped before he can kill the pyro unless he's an ambassador spy who knows how to aim. That's why any decent pyro hides and jumps out rather than going "I'LL GET IM, I'LL GET IM, I'LL GET IM" and charging straight at the enemy.

I like how Derp Y. Mail just rates my post dumb without saying why it's dumb
i wonder if we getting the flamethrowers changes we have on beta.
I'm happy with the weapons get got today, but I'm still hoping that tomorrow will bring a few more weapons as well as Meet the Pyro.
I like how Derp Y. Mail is just going through the thread and rating all my posts dumb because of how butthurt he is. :v:
No, I just think you're being unnecessarily rude.
Point in case, the quoted statement.

Oh, you would edit it.

But also source film maker. Hopefully full demos to youtube made easy. none of that HUD-free bullshit. Just straight-up demo recorder and renderer. It will make producing commentaries for youtube far easier.
