i think a lot of you are upset because you let the hype get to you as if this would be the most incredible thing your eyes have ever seen, and if it wasn't that (or close) then yeah, you expected a little too much. imo, they did pretty fucking awesome with this one: the contrast from the real world and pyro's world is unsettling; the shit in the real world was pretty insane considering he thought he was shooting rainbows at them. i loved it.
Actually, for a video that took five years to make and received such insane amounts of hype, they didn't really deliver.
I can't click on Day 3 gauge
Watch the Source film maker through the youtube app for android. Its not private there.
sourcefilmmaker.com works just fine. I already signed up for the beta, but knowing my shitty luck, I probably won't get in
http://gyazo.com/df38149f506a5992d65bdd4a813c3d45 NO day 3 yet though, but SFM and MtP are up on pyromania finally. That was an incredible watch and I feel so weird playing pyro now.
This was the best Meet The video to date. It explains how insane the pyro really is, and I love how we didn't get anything to know about him. He will always be the batshit insane pyro.
Oh man, that was just weird. Not bad, not too good either... but damn I had a good laugh, especially at the baby Soldier, I want that pacifier as a skin, now.
TRIBES ASCEND IS OUT GUYS
not bad not the best either and I refuse to believe how whenever I play pyro, I have to see these things.
Everything went better than expected. I loved every single moment of Meet the Pyro. Anybody who was actually expecting to see anything revealed like his face or backstory was already setting themselves up for disappointment. Valve wouldn't do that in a million years so why expect it. It has already been posted before, but i'll post it again:
this is exactly what I thought when I saw MTP. Maybe it was GabeN who posted this.
one of my friends was expecting MtP to show how the pyro sees the world
This was the best Meet The video to date.
I like Meet the Medic, Spy and Sniper more, but I still love it.
That was so dark, yet so bright. I'm scared now.
They didn't take 5 years to do this, they just started working on it after Meet the Medic.
Which is still no excuse, because meet the medic was fucking amazing. This would have been right at home in the earlier MTT's - shorter clips, explaining the basic point of the class. Meet The Medic was awesome, and Meet The Spy was great. This is just... ugh.
I feel sorta sad about MTP. I keep thinking he snapped at one point and that's why he envisions everything like that.
FAQ Q. What is the Source Filmmaker? The Source Filmmaker is the movie-making tool built and used by Valve to make movies inside the Source game engine. It is how we have been making all of our animated short movies. Because the Source Filmmaker uses the same assets as a Source-engine game, what goes into the game can be used in the movie, and vice versa. By using the hardware rendering of a modern PC gaming machine, the SFM allows storytellers to work in a “what you see is what you get” environment so that they can iterate in the context of what it will feel like for the final audience. Q. How do I get the Source Filmmaker? You can apply for a beta key here and install it from Steam like any other free-to-play game. Note that the beta key request requires Steam to be running on your PC. Initially, we are limiting the number of beta users, but soon we will release the SFM to all users on Steam for free. Q. I have requested a key, how do I improve my chances of getting into the SFM beta? Contributing a highly rated workshop item is a good place to start. Q. How is this tool different than other 3D animation tools? Most tools only create a fraction of a movie: a renderer, a 2D video clip editor, a keyframer, a motion capture editor, a sound editor, etc. The SFM is a hybrid of all these workflows merged into a single system, where you can create an entire movie by reusing assets and events from the video game world. Q. What can people do with the SFM? The SFM allows a storyteller to create an entire movie on location inside the video game world of Team Fortress 2. Movies exported with the SFM can be uploaded to the web or shared like any normal movie file. Q. Does the SFM create polygonal meshes, sounds, or textures? No. you can think of the SFM as a virtual movie set with lights, actors, props and cameras. Fabrication is done using the same tools you would use to create a normal Source game mod. Q. Can I bring my custom-made TF items and maps into the SFM and make my own movies with them? Yes. The SFM is native to the Source game engine. Assets that you make for the TF2 Workshop or for your own game mods can be loaded into the SFM. Q. How many characters, maps, and props are included? The initial release is for the game world of Team Fortress 2. There are nine characters, hundreds of locations and thousands of props, particles, textures, and sounds. Q. Does the SFM work with other Valve Source games and mods? At this time, the SFM is only being released for Team Fortress 2. Users familiar with modding with the Source engine will be able to mod the SFM build of TF2 to create new worlds. Q. Can we make new characters or props? Yes. Check out the TF2 blog posts for how to make a hat, a map, or a gun, or just to get an idea of where to start. We will also be creating blogposts on sourcefilmmaker.com in the near future about how to create new characters for the SFM. Q. Can we use TF Workshop items? Yes. All TF Workshop items will ship for free in the SFM. These items are only models, however, without any gameplay significance. While you’ll be able to put the Scorch Shot in the Pyro’s hands in your movie, your player won’t be able to equip it when you play online unless you have the item in your backpack inventory. Q. Why are you giving the SFM away? In the past, we’ve found that giving away our tools for free leads to the community creating amazing things for themselves and for others. All the items in the Team Fortress Workshop, and in fact Team Fortress itself, are a testament to how amazing the community’s creations are. We can’t wait to see what amazing creations you make with the SFM. Q. Can I make money with this tool? Yes, but not if you’re using Valve’s assets in your movie. The tool is free for non-commercial use. You can use Valve’s game assets (things like characters, props, particles, textures, and sounds) to create movies and images to share with the game community, as long as what you create is free. We’re not giving you a license to commercialize our assets. However, if do not include any of Valve’s assets in the movies and images that you make, then there are no restrictions on what you do with your content and you can make money with it. Q. What are the hardware requirements? OS: Windows 7 / Vista (Windows 7 64 bit suggested) Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher) Memory: 2GB (4 GB suggested) Hard Disk Space: At least 15 GB of Space Video: NVIDIA GeForce 200 series card or better, or AMD Radeon 3000 series or better (NVIDIA GeForce 400 series or AMD Radeon 5000 series preferred) Monitor: 1366 x 768 (1920 x 1080 suggested) Audio: DirectX 9.0c compatible USB headset with mic (suggested)
Here's the SFM FAQ for anyone who wants to know. EDIT: Here's the beta invite link.
Best Meet The video yet imo.
Anyone notice the Engineer grimacing at the ending flourish?
It explains why he puts stupid shit on his head as a hat, because he sees it differently in his world. But now it has opened the floodgate to possibly new memes that have to do with ponies so, im not too happy about that.
I sure do feel bad for Valve's servers right now
I hope we can test soon the Source Filmmaker. All those years of waiting finally will be awarded.
"After 5 years in development, we hope it has been worth the wait."
Does anyone have a picture of Day 3 Update?
Did anyone access the pyromania page? What's on it?
Really just want this updated so I can launch Poopy Joe into space.
I enjoyed it, I thought it was hilarious, but man it could have had more to it. It was basically just the pyro going on a rampage. At least the other MT videos gave a little story. This one just touched on how everybody hates pyros.
look at the date
Yeah, exactly my point. This theory is old, it's been brought up on reddit countless times, so it's not even original. It's not even funny, awesome or anything. Just embarrassing. I'd be a lot more satisfied with the video if they'd simply cut off that part and left only serious stuff in. Overdramatic compared to other meet the videos, but at least pleasing to watch.
I want to click day 3
banana dissapeared off main page for me. and re-appeared nvm
Okay, I finally watched it. It was glorious.
