they are from Australia but Redmond and Blutarch convinced Zephiniah to buy land in the states and expand their company, then split it in two equal halves to fight over but considering they were a big company to start with, their states failure was probably the last thing they bought and is possible that land all around the world was purchased beforehand
I like the assumption that TFC exists somewhere in the TF2 Timeline.

That picture was nothing more than a joke about the TFC engineer being his predecessor.
I always assumed TF2 operated in a sort of timeline that had a distant past, and a distant future, but no concrete past, present, and future. Essentially events happen, then they become part of this big timeline that just sort of merges together. Think of it like somebody pouring different colored water into a cup every so often. Eventually things just start to blend together. It's why we have the engineer holding the Frontier Justice in the MTM video, when it technically made it's debut in what you'd assume was a later point in TF2's "timeline". It almost makes sense when you consider this is a universe that's streamlined things like teleportation and shit like that.
Yes, it might be a nice thought that TFC and TF2 are canonically connected, but they're not. If anything, TFC is decades after TF2. That picture with TFC Engi and Young TF2 Engi was just a Easter Egg.
Or perhaps TFC takes place in Australia, after the Australians hired a bunch of american mercs to fight over secret deposits of Australium? It's like blood diamonds, except with more mustachioed men!
wait, i thought they were fighting over closely-located plots of land that both Menn were intended to inherit, but got locked in a perpetual stalemate. I thought they straight-up told us that? They even showed us a map of the general area, right? it's just imaginary goofy cartoon logic that the area includes both mountains and a desert, I figured. in a similar vein: i'm a little surprised at the suggestion that they would hold the update till they finished a map early in development. they work on shit way in advance, I always got the feeling. It's like: 1. Work on project 2. Finish project 3. polishpolishpolishpolish(maybe)RELEASE
TF2 comics have some really silly parts that they never look at again and were just one off jokes and probably aren't really canon. Future Australia is probably one of those.
Especially since we have seen Sniper's parents, and they don't have moustaches neither flying cars. Just a rickety wooden house in the outback.
