Is there a relatively easy method of receiving a bad experience with furries? Personally I have never managed to encounter anything negative while interacting with such individuals. I am simply curious why so many individuals are not fond of them, I assume it partially comes from unpleasant direct interaction.

Easily, furries tend to not care about it to much and (from what I've seen on the internet) use whatever the hell's scattered around the house. Pipe cleaners tissues etc. Imagine some patchwork abomination shambling torwards you with unblinking eyes and a constant smile on it's face.

It mostly comes from bandwagon. Some people do have a valid dislike of furries, but most of them are still civil about it.
My 2 cents on Furries.
I really don't care what you like. Just don't shove it in my face.
You want to have some dog as your avatar? Sure. Just don't have him showing off his nipples.
Want to have some furry sprays? Okay, fine. I just don't want him posing for some playboy/girl magazine.
You say you're a furry? No, you're not. You are not an anthropomorphic animal in any way. You enjoy them. Good for you. You aren't what you like.
Furry is a fetish? Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't know. But I'm assuming it isn't.
People who like furries aren't a whole 'nother culture. They're just a group of people who have a preference. To me, it's not really all the enjoyable. But I'm not going to freak out if I witness it. I will, however, act rather angry if you put up some picture of a wolf waving his/her nipples/penis/vagina/ass around. That's just sick.
Bottom Line: I don't like/dislike furries. Just don't shove it in my face, or put up any pornography of it.

The main problem I have is, furries make their fetish a LIFESTYLE. I never ask furries if they are furries or not. Virtually EVERY furry flaunts it to some degree and show it off whenever they're in anything remotely social. If you're a "John Doe" with a question mark avatar and you enjoy furry porn, I will have no problems with you, since you keep it to yourself and let people be.
It does turn into a problem when furries want the whole world to know about it, especially in something as simple as a game of TF2. I don't want to learn about your sexual deviancy or fur fetishes. You don't see people who have foot or scat fetishes openly admit their love of it by having sprays, names, and avatars related to that activity to the same degree as furries do.
Furry fandom is nothing but a simple fetish. They like to see anthropomorphic animals having sex. (And don't say that it's not a sexual fetish, since it is.) Stop forcing it on other people as an overinflated "lifestyle". It's not a lifestyle, it will NEVER be a lifestyle. It's simply a fetish that people jerk off or schlick to, and they attempt to find social acceptance by forming large groups of extroverted fetishists.
Get furries out of my TF2.

I once tried a furry server, it was absolutely idiotic. Admins with nerdy voices will kick/ban you for the smallest things, like not voting what they want in their constantly spammed polls.
Not to mention they constantly spam announcements as if it's goddamn twitter. "alright guys imma go afk to fap i just found a new krystal pic set :3"
I've never encountered one.
Mainly seen them in a furry pound server.
And like once or twice in a random server.
Good thing I play on servers where people thank Medics, [del]Properly sap,[/del] Ubercharge at the right time, and actually have competence in aiming.

Play on French servers, the furries are not really appreciated in France, seriously, it doesn't exist.
I went to the furry pound server onces.
They talked a lot more than on other 24-player vanilla server and when you ignore the sprays on the walls its actually pretty fun to play there.
TF2 is like the official furry game or something.

Every time I play with a French person they either team kill me in L4D2 or they are running off healing spies and griefing.
But the decision is easy.
1- French bastards who ruin the fun and make you rage while shouting what sounds like gibberish while ruining the game for you.
2- Furries who have a pink/purple/rainbow wolf avatar and like to show their fetish.
I will stick with the French any day.

Though I agree, being French Canadian, I noticed that when a random English come accidentally in a french server, he get extremely flamed, which is a shame because that just destroy the overall reputation of your community.
