Yeah, I suppose I should've used phong... I guess I was scared of the whole "normal map" thing - obviously I used the alpha channel for paintability...

You don't need a normal map. Well, I mean, I guess you do if you want a phong mask, but you can just set the bumpmap to models\effects\flat_normal, you don't [I]need [/I]a phong mask, especially since your stuff is fairly simple. Never skimp out on phong in TF2
make a phong mask for the two items that don't have paint though, no reason not to

Well, in terms of the Midlife Crisis, I'll probaby be deleting/remaking it. For the freshener, ok, will do.
But for the hat, wouldn't I have to make a normal map because the alpha channel already goes to paintability??? :o

you could if you want lots of detail but, again, you can always just set it to models\effects\flat_normal which has a pure white alpha and just control the phong through your vmt

The file he referred to is a normal map that's completely flat. You could use it as your normal map and have it pull from the alpha of that for the phong mask. It wouldn't look as good as creating your own most likely, but it would still work.

Well, the default has six shots but only fires four. At the end of the day it is just a mod, I can't see too much of an issue.

No. Most of the effects are brand new. But the bones require a custom material, therefore, most sv_pure 1 servers disable them.
The effects that aren't brand new have still been tweaked slightly to match the styling of the other new effects until I manage to come up with unique and distinct effects for the underwater and decap effects.
