I opted for simplicity. It clips a little with a couple of poses, but nothing terrible. I'm concerned I might have overdone the spec on the reflective stripes, though that really is what gives the item character. Any obvious changes needed with the model or texture?
Finally, I need suggestions on paintability, as well as a name. I came up with "The Uncivil Worker," which is just terribad.
This looks great, but it MIGHT mess up with the whole "torso identification" concept.

I was worried about that as well, but I think it'd be ok if it's used as a secondary that affects game-play.
like, you still see that it's engineer, he doesn't look like any other class but he does look very different.
I'm thinking with the reduced visible team color it should be something defensive, as TC is more important with fast moving threats in battle

It is good day to be painted over !

Beautiful. Wouldn't mind if Valve implemented those.

I plan to post it on the Workshop once it's done. TF2 GUI's need some serious reworks

Tnx ! I updated the post.
Brillant work my friend.
I think someone suggested it a thread or two ago but I don't know who. I also thought of it myself when I was listening to the radio and a DJ mentioned shoulder patches.
If it was less generic than shoulder patches I'd try to figure out who, but ehh.

Luger is a bullet type, isn't it?
Yes. It's another name for the 9x19 parabellum, a very common pistol-type cartridge.
It's named after the weapon it was originally designed for, the Parabellum P08 (the real life Lugermorph), better known as Luger.
I sort of want to say that someone should make this. I also still want the brainslug to be able to wear hats. Sigh.

Close enough
The Cockatoo hat for Sniper made me remember this.

EDIT: Shrink.
Someone really should make a collection with all the stuff from the Medieval Update that are on the Workshop.

I remember a few weeks ago while Nugget and I were conceptualizing items, one of the ideas I threw out was a reflective vest for the Engineer, because I thought someone else would make it before us if we didn't hurry. Nugget thought the idea was 'meh' so we started The Close Shave.
Then you made this.
I told you, Nugget.
I told you it would happen.

Tempted to post "it keeps happening".
Sorry. The good news is, I'm not convinced Valve will let me make Engi's back completely yellow/orange. The front part of the vest doesn't really cover much at all in the way of the red parts, at least.
In general, though, Engineer has got to be the least important with regards to torso identifiability.
1. It's a mostly defensive class, and as such shouldn't be ambushing you too often.
2. Secondly, offensive Engis carry around a gigantic bright red toolbox, even if they're on the blue team.
*EDIT* Never mind about the toolbox. I'm dumb.

okay
those are elbow patches.
Did I really say "shoulder patches"? I must be losin' my mind. All the files and everything say elbow, I have no idea why I typed shoulder.
, offensive Engis carry around a gigantic bright red toolbox, even if they're on the blue team.
Gunslinger boxes are red? I'm sure they were blue.
toolboxes are team colored, I don't think there's even a visual difference between any toolbox for any building.
even with that vest engie is still more and more clearly team colored than sniper and heavy
You may want to make it slightly float above the suit rather then clip into it, take the pocket medic as an example.
Also, what should I do texture-wise? I don't want to leave it one solid color, but fabric doesn't use brushstrokes and it stretches too much to add detail.
He has leeches on his elbows it seems :v:
Maybe try a lighter colour instead of a darker one?
Texturing for Petachepas again:

Suggestions appreciated!
I don't like the circle around the logo, or how the logo is reversed on the open ones
