I'm working on this medic set (on an extremely slow pace) and I've run into some trouble when texturing, and someone said I should ask this on facepunch, hope this is the right thread
Note, this is my first time doing all of this including the modelling so any advice on anything

This is what I did so far, only basic colours for now, haven't done much details yet, working on that
But what I wondered is, how do I make it like the medi gun is not made out of cardboard? Is that all done in the VMT or am I doing something horribly wrong? I am using the tf2 colour pallette mainly so that can't do much harm I thought,
I also modelled a Hat and a melee weapon, working on boots replacing the syringe gun

And as a final (unrelated question) about the gameplay
I was thinking that the set bonus would allow the medic to rocket/sticky jump along with his pocket if he's in a close enough radius, either through the set bonus or as the effect of the ubercharge in addition with some other stats
I do realize that valve decides this but just brainstorming a little, anybody sees potential in it?

Preferably none. If you have to make something paintable, choose the buttons. With a Fast Learner-Summer style amount of intensity.

Excellent first post and first model!
As for the cardboardness, I would say that is more or less resolved by the vmt. The lightwarps and such that Source uses are different from the ones employed by modeling software. Just make sure your texture looks pretty and you should be good once you export.
