Damn, that took forever. That's the first time I'm making a texture and I'm not sure I chose the easiest model to work with. :v:
So yeah, first model and first texture ever. I know everything is far from perfect, so I'll gladly take criticism, I didn't really follow guides of any kind, I simply looked at the grenade launcher's texture and tried to imitate its style.

Extremely well done, especially for a first model. I'm not just saying that either, you show some great talent. I foresee many great models ahead for you.
The only thing that could use some work is that the seam on the back wooden part is really obvious, and it looks like you were doing edge definition on the front and then got tired of doing it halfway through.

The contrast is pretty big, for example the ironsight... thing. It's too dark.
Anyone if it would be possible to have a paint mask, a phong mask, and a normal map for bevels (all three) and the best way to get around doing it?
The best way to doing it is to enter the appropriate commands? None of those 3 interfere with each other.

I'm honoured you modelled my concept, however, If you enjoy creating artwork without mentioning where you got the ideas from, please either create your own concepts or sufficiently credit the person who did it in the first place please.
So far all the items from my old survival pack have been re-modelled without my consent or acknowledgement, and I've confronted each contributor about it just to be ignored/denied! Please don't take advantage of my neutrality.
To be honest a backpack is pretty basic and you can see it anywhere.
You see this "hack all guys who get models in game" stuff makes me not want to get better at modeling and post shit on the workshop,since it can have a very small chance of getting in game :suicide:

maybe, but atm they share UV space so that isn't possible
Also i'm thinking about designing a pack around this thing, as it seems the only time valve is willing to put any effort into new weapons is when they are part of a pack, probably cause they earn more money on packs than on single weapons.
It's pretty funny actually that weapons are cheaper than hats and miscs to the players despite that they require so much more work... model, texture, coding, stats and all.

My first three models ever were all for TF2, and one of them was atrocious. And one of them hasn't been submitted to the workshop yet due to jigglebone errors (have you ever seen an air freshener have a life of its own? it's terrifying)
I scrapped that scout helmet anyway, working on a vintage 50s baseball cap.
