i like the 2nd one as well. Although it seems to be a bit too detailed for my taste. That's only me though.
I like the first one the most, but maybe that's just because I don't recognize what the second one is based on.
I hope you guys don't kill me for asking this but what is the best way to start creating tf2 items?
Is being able to draw important? I can't draw at all and ask myself how you create the designs if you can't.
I am currently watching 3dsmax tutorials to learn how to use the program and how to model. It is a 12h long collection of tutorials. Would it be more efficicent to watch/read tf2-modeling related tutorials?
It helps if you at least have a good imagination and some skill in drawing, though it isn't required (the imagination is though).
I'm making a playermodel pack.
It's minecraft mobs as classes.
Enderman Spy, Villager Medic (librarian), Spider Scout, Iron Golem Heavy, Skeleton Sniper, Blaze(?) Pyro, Zombie Soldier, Steve Engie.
I swear, i'm doing this.
Also, pain sounds and music.
Wow, so many people actually liking the 2nd one? I thought it was too blocky and like Ronin say, much too detailed. Should I revisit it and refine it more? It's actually modeled after a doodle I've made, based on tons of wrench pictures I've collected from the web (you would be surprised of the variation)
I've made another wrench in the meantime (not finished yet as I messed up the mesh to reduce clipping). I was reluctant using this design, because it kinda looks like the jag, and could not be unique enough.

I believe it's a port from CoD Black Ops. I could be wrong though. I love the DG2 in the game, but I wouldn't use it in TF2 unless someone made the textures more TF2-ish.

Rate agree for no joints, like in actual minecraft.
Rate informative for actual joints to make animations look better.

I have a feeling this is also the reason why people prefer my doodles/sketches over the finished works, I tend to conform what is expected from me, or so I think.

Will do, the model is done and checked for clipping, but is not unwrapped/textured yet.
