I've got almost no idea what I'm doing here, so could somebody give me a hand? I decided to go and take a look at that hat decompiling/compiling/UVWunwrapping/texturing etc.. tutorial linked to on the first page, and followed it to the end. Anyway, I can't figure out why, but I can't seem to get [URL="i40.tinypic.com/33youvm.jpg"]this poorly textured ball[/URL] to sit itself on the head of [URL="http://www.tfportal.de/gfx/content/tf2/classes/class_demored.png"]this drunk[/URL] without [URL="http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/488878795928275273/49F8D31680477E0CD8DA386BE44A6C50FC11F08E/"]this happening.[/URL] (No textures in-game.)
As far as I can tell, I must be doing something wrong when I export the model from 3DS Max as an .SMD file, because everything leading up to the point looks fine, and everything I'm supposed to be doing afterward seems to be in order. Anyone have any ideas?

I was going to do single barrel at first but it just looked better with two. Same with the over under ones. The Scattergun is not so vertical compared to the other shotguns in the game, so doing over under guns throws off the aesthetic of the scout's Scatterguns, but that's just me. :P

I was going to do something similar to this. At first I was going with an industrial theme as I am making a whole pack for this with a pistol. For the barrels I tried to make them look like smokestacks of factories, but I was like fuck that, it looks terrible. But yeah, I was going to add either another layer ontop to put holes in it, or just put it on the texture of the barrels.
If I do this should I actually model the holes (requires lots of polys) or just do it on the texture? (optimistic for modeled, informative for textured)

Try rotating the actual bone in your modelling program and see if that helps.
