Hi everyone! Long time lurker, new to modelling and modding - currently working on a few items I'll be posting up later. Got a quick question - is there any point in creating custom animations for submitted weapons? Or is it a whole lot of effort for little point? Seems like they pretty rarely get accepted for whatever reason. I know the S.Sleeper had a custom reload that never made it in-game, the L'n'L too I think? Or is it a case of "can't hurt your chances, might as well do it anyway"? Cheers guys! And 'hi'!

But it's good for a learning experience if you really want it. Welcome

One is with all other submissions (hats, weapons...) we have the source material (obj, texture files...) so if something needs to be fixed or tweaked because of a change in the player model we can address this in the original file and recompile the mdl. These items usually only rely on a few bones or attachment points in the player mdl. Animations on the other hand are the entire player model and what we are getting for submissions are smd's or dmx files....baked out animation on the skeleton that can't be easily tweaked if there's a change made to the player mdl. In addition people are using a wide variety of packages to animate in. For models that's not a huge deal since something like an obj file is a generic file type that can be edited in several packages that we use and do not rely on a rig. All of our animation is done in maya. We currently don't have tools set up to retarget smd/dmx animations onto our Maya rigs if changes and recompiles were needed. We won't even throw in Faceposer and rebuilding the sceneimage.ini file. So, getting the animation in isn't the big deal. Supporting it so that it's always consistent and available if changes are made is. We could say " If a change is made then let the contributor fix it." Problem with that is that it isn't fair if customers purchase an animation pack then have to go without it till the contributor addresses the mdl changes. Hopefully that clears up some of the reasons for the delay in accepting animation submissions. I apologize if this is confusing at all ( typing this on my phone.) Hmmmm not sure if I should post this here but......(Yes I know I will sound like a total newb) I can't see the Cryogenator In-game,the snow instead of fire works but I can't see the model.
