I'm not trying to go around this thread, but I really think you should consider upgrading or buying a new pc.
I'm not trying to go around this thread, but I really think you should consider upgrading or buying a new pc.
I'm actually planning to, this is just for the meantime. [editline]21st October 2010[/editline]
Try smaller resolutions.
1024x576 here I come!
I have the same - or better - framerate I've had since 2008, on the same mid-range computer with no upgrades. Seems like every update, someone's complaining about how Valve fucked up the framerate, yet I've never noticed anything.
use this amazing config http://www.fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/cfg/maxframes.htm quality example: [img_thumb]http://www.fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/screenshots/maxframes_badlands.jpg[/img_thumb] sorry about the image size :|
Minefortress2
Never noticed any drops in fps. Always had 60 fps (VSync is on) with max graphics (16xQ AA is pweetttyyyyy).
I'm not trying to go around this thread, but I really think you should consider upgrading or buying a new pc.
Sorry, but I can run Crysis quite fine. I shouldn't have to buy an even more expensive PC because valve is too lazy to generate LOD models.
Valve is planning on doing a performance update in the near future. Robin confirmed it via email a while ago. Just hang tight, they'll get to it. :buddy:
Valve...working on a performance update? dohohoho good one shugo that joke made me laugh ..wait, you were serious?
My game is choppy as fuck now, I hate it. It takes me forever to connect to servers as well.

I used to have 30-40 fps max in battle but now I can get around 40-70 depending on the area.
I actually get more fps now then I did back in 2008 still on my athlon 64 3800+ 1gb ram intergrated Nvidia 6510 comp use Quantums little config; gives me better detail and it runs much smoother then chris for some reason [editline]21st October 2010[/editline]
I can run HL2 on my computer, full settings, full everything at about 100 fps. I can barely run tf2 on low resolution, and minimal graphics without it crashing every few minutes.
I can get 60 fps on hl2 the higher the source engine year, the better the comp you need
Pentium 4
Stopped reading there, I got a pentium 4 computer from a free ad on craigslist last year, go get yourself a job.
Stopped reading there, I got a pentium 4 computer from a free ad on craigslist last year, go get yourself a job.
This post makes you look like a huge douche Also, I had an intel integrated series graphics and core 2 duo @ 2.1ghz. I know how it feels. Hang tight. Did you try -dxlevel 81 or lower by chance?
I have 894 mb of RAM 2.2 ghz I've been playing since Sniper vs Spy, under certain cfgs but i hardly play TF2 anymore cause my pc sucks.
VALVE HATE PEOPLE SHIT COMPUTERS NOW /capslockday
God i hope they optimize tf2...i remember playing smoothly on integrated graphics about a year ago...now on a dedicated card i STILL get hiccups. Fix this valve...PRONTO.
Also, I had an intel integrated series graphics and core 2 duo @ 2.1ghz. I know how it feels. Hang tight. But I doubt it's the graphics, as I said, standing in the spawn room of 2fort, in an empty server and looking at the floor doesn't give me more than 15 fps.
Um, send robin an email? They are all running the game on 480gtx and i7 930's so even if they fuck up the performance, they won't even notice it.
This is extremely depressing. Can't be the graphics, I had 30 fps when I spawned, after running around for a few seconds, it dropped to this again. [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline] Actually, maybe the update was just a coincidence, I remember trying to install a "high fps" script right after the update was done downloading, I had a quick look at the whole thing but since I really don't know shit about the mat_ convars, maybe it did some nasty manipulation on a few obscure vars. Now I've removed the script and deleted my team fortress 2 folder, but some of the settings seem to persist, any way to reset them completely? [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline]
Um, send robin an email? I play on low with 1680x1050. No problem here. [img_thumb]http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/9428/fpsv.png[/img_thumb] Specs: 4GB Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB Windows 7 32-bit
Play on High 1680x1050 60 FPS before the polycount Update. Now I'm getting lag in Sniper when scoping, in Ubercharge, in Pyro, or in Krit... :saddowns: I'm running at 60 FPS and sometimes 25 since. I think Valve have messed with something.
1024x768 is the resolution I always use for modern games.
But can you use higher without lag? I imagine that resolution would look really terrible on most games. I don't know how good your computer is so I can't say for sure, but I'm just asking.
There isn't much of a difference at all, graphics wise. But in terms of performance, yes. About 60+ FPS or so. 1050p is never good for me. Terrible framerates.
I play on low with 1680x1050. No problem here.
Now we know about your huge rich ass, but was it worth posting just for bragging about your specs?
His settings not even on max and his build not THAT good (read: shitty GPU). This is how TF2 should look like on a proper build. [img_thumb]http://imgur.com/6VEOq.jpg[/img_thumb]
The GPU isn't even the problem, as I said, I shouldn't be having such a framerate when running at 800x600 with dxlevel 81.
Now we know about your huge rich ass, but was it worth posting just for bragging about your specs?
Bragging? I thought my specs were shitty. Oh well. Sorry for the misunderstanding, then.
The GPU isn't even the problem, as I said, I shouldn't be having such a framerate when running at 800x600 with dxlevel 81.
I was talking about other guys GPU. Your problem is CPU, it's fucking P4, don't expect it to work well. Get a cheap-o Dual Core. [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline]
Bragging? I thought my specs were shitty. Oh well. Sorry for the misunderstanding, then.
Your spec is decent except for GPU. It's bottlenecking you. [editline]22nd October 2010[/editline] P.S. Get 64-bit OS, seriously.
I've heard 64-bit is bugging in some programs. And why is 64-bit better? (Im not good with computers) Recommend me a GPU.
Now we know about your huge rich ass, but was it worth posting just for bragging about your specs?
Rich? Bragging? Those specs aren't even that good at all. These are basically the settings I'm running at: [img_thumb]http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/3285/ctf2fort0001m.jpg[/img_thumb] I average around 120 FPS at all times. I haven't noticed any performance drops since the newest update. So I'm not sure why you guys would be having such huge dips in framerate. I can't imagine the game would run that terribly even on hardware that's a few years old. TF2 came out in 2007, after all. I think it's just the sheer amount of shit they've added to the game. Takes up a huge amount of memory, and a lot of it isn't optimized very well.
I love this config. I used to have 30-40 fps max in battle but now I can get around 40-70 depending on the area.
I like it because it looks kinda cool.
