only on payload, and only rarely. 10% isn't a lot but giving up the Equalizer / DA is tough, and the Demoman has a lot of better, more reliable melees.
Well, I personally use it over the Equalizer, it turns me into a Scout with rockets.
Loadouts That I Find Are Really Awesome/Fun But No One Seems To Use: Offensive Hipster Scout: Shortstop, Crit a Cola, Wrap Assassin Allows you to do a shit ton of damage at a longer range. pop the cola and fire the ornament into a crowd for funtime. Super Support Broldier: Black Box, Buff Banner/Battalion's Backup/Concherer, Disciplinary Action Black Box allows your Medics to focus on other patients, Banner provides a Buff, DA helps get everyone to the front lines quicker. Think Engie Buddy Pyro for Soldier. Everything Burns Pyro: Phlogistinator, Manmelter, Sharpened Volcano Fragment Every single bit of damage you do will increase MMMPH. Use Manmelter to extinguish teammates/provide cover fire/distract distant enemies. Volcano Fragment can improve Spychecking if you're low on ammo. Run N' Fun Demoman: Loch N Load, Charge N Targe, Pain Train ONLY use on Offense. Targe provides fire and explosive resistance, as well as an emergancy escape. Pain Train helps cap points faster. Use LnL to one shot anyone who shows up to try and stop you. Moblie Fortress Heavy: Brass Beast, Dalakohs Bar, Gloves of Running Urgently Down the Dalakohs, pull out the gloves, and run to the front lines. Stay far enough back that you can retreat if things go tits up. Staying near a dispenser/large ammo spawn is recommended. Competant Engineer: Pomson, literally anything else Just use the Pomson. Seriously, it cripples pushes like the world's cheapest trampoline. Free-To-Play Repellant Spray Sniper: Sydney Sleeper, Darwin's Danger Shield, Buchwacka, Ol' Snaggletooth "U HAKING FAGET I SHOOT U IN FASE. MY DAD WORK FOR VIDEO GAMES HES GUNNA BAN UR FAGET NEGRO ASS." The Hummingbird Medic: Crusader's Crossbow, Quick-Fix, Amputator Buffed self-heal helps you take more hits on the front lines. Use the Crossbow if you see a distant teammate locked in battle. Hit the enemy, you kill them. Hit the teammate, you heal them, they kill the enemy. Use the Quick-Fix to flit from patient to patient, getting them to full health. Pop Uberheal on anyone about to die (once they reach the red on the front lines, any sooner and it won't matter). Once the Uberheal is popped and the patient reaches 100% health, move on to the next possible patient. Use the Medicating Melody whenever there's some downtime. The Kawaii Butt Bandit Spy: Enforcer, Conniver's Kunai, Dead Ringer Disguise as a teammate, slip behind enemy lines, and chainstab the fuck out of the group on the cart. Activate the DR the very second things appear to go tits up. Pull out the Enforcer as an absolute last resort.
My Scout: FaN, Bonk, Sandman My Soldier: Black Box, Reserve Shooter, Pain Train My Pyro: Flamethrower, Detonator, Back Scratcher My Demoman: Loch-n-Load, Splendid Screen, Claidheamh Mor My Heavy: Iron Curtain, Dalokohs Bar, Fists My Engineer: Pomson 6000, Lugermorph, Southern Hospitality My Medic: Overdose, Quick-Fix, Soleum Vow My Sniper: Sydney Sleeper, Darwin's Danger Shield, Buchwacka, Ol' Snaggletooth My Spy: L'Etranger, Big Earner, Cloak and Dagger
not gonna do all my loadouts cuz I pretty much copy a lot. Medic:blutsauger, ubersaw, stock uber or kritz occaisionally. Spy: All stock except reskins and the ambassador occasionally.
Enforcer+Big Earner+Inviswatch,am I cheap?
Enforcer+Big Earner+Inviswatch,am I cheap?
Enforcer is bloody annoying, but since you actually get a downside from it and less health, I declare this loadout balanced under the jurisdiction of the Gibus & Co EU/UK Highlander League.
Big Kill + Sharp Dresser + Enthusiast's Timepiece. Yes/No?
Scout: Shortstop - Mad Milk - Candy Cane Medic busy with the Soldier or Heavy? Need something to find that pesky dead ringin' Spy? Or you just wanna harrass some Snipers? Well this set is for you!! Not only you are able to heal yourself, but also heal the rest of your team when the Medic is busy with someone else, wheter it is by smacking someone with some solidified sugar, or that white liquid with all the necessary nutrients in a bottle*! Also, your Mann Co Licensed product, the Shortstop, will help you with those hard to hit ranges, and be a good spy checker with your milk, also licensed by Mann Co! *The nutrients can only be absorbed by throwing the substance at the enemy team and using your bullets on them. Mann Co will not take responsability of your health in the case you drink this substance or if you are one-hit-killed by any explosive device that we developed.

If there's more than two of either of the explosive classes, particularly Soldier, then it's back to the fish. But it's been vaguely useful (and fun) on a few 5CP maps before.
Hey guys! Here's my Engineer loadout: I was wondering if I should gear toward offense or defense. (Probally defense.)
I love the LnL. I'm still pretty bad at hitting scouts with it, but those long rang 1 hit-kills are so satisfying...
I love the LnL. I'm still pretty bad at hitting scouts with it, but those long rang 1 hit-kills are so satisfying...
Even better is when this happens: >run into an enemy (mostly happens with Pyros, Scouts, and Soldiers) >we fight at close range, I miss with LnL >they kill me >a posthumous LnL grenade takes them out a split second after I die or even better >run into someone with a Medic pocketing them >fire LnL >miss >die >posthumous grenade misses the attacking enemy by a mile, hits his Medic >Medic dies
I could see the LnL doing more damage as distance increases. I mean, besides the usual damage ramp/decline with distance. (I forgot the exact setup for that.)
My Loadouts: Scout- Scattergun, Lugermorph, Consciensious Objector Soldier- Liberty Launcher, Buff Banner, Pain Train Pyro- Degreaser, Flare Gun, Axtinguisher Demoman- Grenade Launcher, Splendid Screen, Eyelander Heavy- Iron Curtain, Sandvich, Apoca-Fists Engineer- Pomson 6000, Wrangler, Southern Hospitality Medic- Blutsauger, Kritzkrieg, Amputator Sniper- Croc-o-Style Kit Set Spy- Ambassador, Cloak and Dagger, Sharp Dresser
I could see the LnL doing more damage as distance increases. I mean, besides the usual damage ramp/decline with distance. (I forgot the exact setup for that.)
Grenade Launchers have no distance-based rampup/falloff, actually!
Grenade Launchers have no distance-based rampup/falloff, actually!
Well the LnL should have a ramp-up. Really, if you manage to hit someone with one of those from a distance, it ought to pay off.
Holy shit, I love the Cozy Camper. Hopped on my favorite server and quickscoped everywhere. Granted, it was most likely just a placebo effect since I wasn't getting shot at some of the time, but still, it was awesome. I'll upload a video of it if you guys want. Also that engie loadout is definitely defense.
I think Pain Train is pretty underrated (on Soldier at least). I had neglected the thing for the longest time but decided to give it a proper try one day. The bullet vulnerability only being 10% as well as the Soldier having a pretty large health pool as is makes the vulnerability not much of a problem. I think the perk you get is very well worth it, you're kind of like a Scout, but you're a bit beefier (health and damage wise) + you've got rocketjumping.

The vanilla set is the best in 99% of cases. Only non-stock stuff I use is the Kritzkrieg and Jarate. e: oh and the Atomiser.
The vanilla set is the best in 99% of cases. Only non-stock stuff I use is the Kritzkrieg and Jarate. e: oh and the Atomiser.
No.
I hate when people say that I have no skill because I use the Sydney Sleeper. I use it because A) it helps my team, making some medics uber before they should and some heavy die way faster, and B) When I hit, let's say, a scout running at me, I just take out my smg and mini-crit him till he dies.
Rocket launcher is best launcher
Black box can cause massive destruction if you're patient. You feel like a one man army. Also, i love the FAN for its forcejumping, 2fort or something, being able to go virtually anywhere rapidly opens up so many flanking opportunities. Although probably do perform better on other maps with the scattergun.
I never EVER want to be "that guy", but I must concede. There are TWO weapons that prove a total lack of skill for just being totally over-powered: The Soda Popper (GET MINICRITS FOR DOING ABSOLUTELY FUCK-ALL, THEN 1 SHOT EVERYONE!) and The Liberty Launcher (THE ROCKETS FIRE AT MACH 10, JUST SHOOT EVERYWHERE, YOU'RE BOUND TO HIT SOMETHING.) seriously, I hate saying "oh, X is a NOOB weapon, get a REAL gun", but this shit's infuriating. all they have to do is nerf the Liberty Launcher's damage slightly, maybe remove its ability to crit, and make the Soda Popper's Hype build through damage dealt or something.

The liberty launcher I've never had a problem with either, doesn't need a nerf at all.

And yea, Sodapopper is definitely a very overpowered weapons, but it's stock Scatter is 105 at point blank and 180 crit, and 6 shots is alot compared to 2 shots.
The Soda Popper is fine. A vanilla Scout of equal skill is matched evenly with a Soda Popper Scout. The Liberty Launcher is a painfully obvious crutch for newer players, with basic +/- stats that don't matter overall.
The Liberty Launcher could maybe stand to have five or ten percent knocked off its speed increase but it's not a huge deal. Soldiers already have four 100+ damage rockets at their disposal, this essentially cuts it down to 75% of that with a higher chance at dealing direct damage. In any team fight he's ruined, and catching him off guard will be more ruinous. The Soda Popper I thought for a while was a bit overpowered, and I still do think it charges ever slightly too quickly, but the weapon idea itself is fine. Two shots does not compete in close-range brawls. Being able to control when you pop your hype is a really nice touch but, at best, it equals the Scattergun in terms of general usability.

Doesn't always happen but I try to get them in 1 shot. [editline]18th March 2012[/editline]
The vanilla set is the best in 99% of cases.
