I'm a bit torn on this one. There's plenty of classes that work better for defense than Scout, but the Scout definitely has his defensive uses.

i was playing in a random server whit my friends, then 2 people joined at the same time after a while we were playing, half of 2nd round, both people joined the same team, one of them said: "HAHAHA U NOOBZ CANT PWN US, W R LEET", we just noticed them after they left the spawn both were pyros, and both were using some kind of "speedhack" moved like hell fast, everyone was dissapointed at these people, everyone joined spec but those 2, they raged, started swearing and left, then we all joined again, like if we got scrambled and kept playing normally.

I play attack/defend maps a lot and from my experience scout is better on defence than attack.
On red, I tend to slip in behind the blus to take out medics and engineers, kind of like a fast non-disguised spy.
On Blu, I tend to be shot by sentries, occasionally capture a point, but mostly get shot by sentries.
