Man, I feel like the only person on earth who's been unaffected by framerate loss and random crashing.
Source engine =/= Team Fortress 2.
:milk:
Man, I feel like the only person on earth who's been unaffected by framerate loss and random crashing.
No, I'm good too. Hooray for us. Although I do get an OS Page Pool Memory crash, but I've had that since release, and I'm happy to say that is my computer's fault.
Same here. Ever since the WAR! update, I've been getting this infamous mapchange crash.

You're like that one guy that keeps saying that TF2 uses 1.5GB of RAM in every thread. It's just your computer. Get a better one or deal with it.
Hahahahahahaha Yeah sure it's my computer see, even Heavy is horribly frightened compare that with the ~600/700mb of the game in early 2008 and you'll see there's quite a problem
I was absolutely perfect until the Crafting Update came along. Now, it crashes most of the time on the "Welcome to server" screen and there is noticeable lag any time anyone gets hit by bullets or projectiles. And believe me, I do not have a bad computer. [editline]10:13AM[/editline] It must be a setting that's causing crashes or something.

It is Normal that TF2 takes a lot more memory now heh, compare on what amount of content you were loading back in 2007 with nowaday tf2.
Well, my TF2 only uses between 1GB to 1.1GB of RAM. No more, no less. Click this sentence for proof!
cl_randomcrash 1
You're really funny. Seriously, either start posting something useful or gtfo. The problem probably lies in 64-bit systems. Altho, TF2 ran perfectly fine up until somewhere around the WAR! update. Then it started crashing on map change. Just for test, i dual booted Windows 7(64-bit where it crashes on map change) with Windows XP(32bit), to see if it's gonna crash. To my suprise, no crashes what so ever. I even tried it with a ton load of skins, still no crashes. Valve needs to fix this for 64-bit systems(at least 3/4 of them).
What's your specs?.
Intel Q8200 @ 2.33gHz 3GB of RAM nVidia GeForce 9600GT w/ 512MB
You're really funny. Seriously, either start posting something useful or gtfo.
Merely a joke, but you may be on to something with the 64bit.
I run 32 bit and crash, so that's not the problem. I have 2g ram, but it only uses 1 - 1.2, so that's not the problem. That other guy doesn't use skins, so that's not the problem. I have an epic computer, so a bad computer is not the problem. I don't have any multicore stuff on, so that's not the problem.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread not long ago that claimed to have fixed this.
If you have dual core turned on, turn it off. That fixed my crashing issues.
Got that wrong.
TF2 RUNS ON Source :v: As to the list of problem-related things, could it be a combination of them, rather than one specifically?
TF2 RUNS ON Source :v:
The guy said "source is optimized..." That's not the same as saying "tf2 is optimized..."
It is weird bug. I didn't have it for months and now I crash every time the server changes the map twice  Specs: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz nVidia 8800GTS 512MB 4GB RAM Windows 7 Ultimate x64
All you dumbfucks saying it's your PC are idiots. My PC can run Crysis on high, L4D2 (another Source engine game) on all max, and just about every other source game on max, apart from TF2. I can run it all high and pull a solid 45-ish FPS, but crash unless I use Dxlevel 8 and turn off multicore. So just shut up, would you, please?
As said before, TF2 is really unoptimized.
As said before, TF2 is really unoptimized.
Are you kidding?
I used to have this, turned out it was my download manager, IDM to be precise so I uninstalled it and boom problem solved :) Hope this helps [editline]05:11PM[/editline]
TF2 RUNS ON Source :v:
TF2 is not on the source engine..
I used to have this, turned out it was my download manager, IDM to be precise so I uninstalled it and boom problem solved :)
You didn't have to do that. It's a problem with its IEMonitor.exe. So just delete/rename it whatever and bam problem solved.
Where can i find this "IEMonitor.exe"?

BUT, I don't have a multicore processor and as such don't have any multicore options turned on. It seems the problem may lie in the game's compatibility with multicore processors, whether or not you have any multicore options turned on. I've noticed this with my friends, too; some of them have map change crashes and some of them don't. The ones who do are always the ones who spent a ton on their superleet rig with multicore processors while the others who don't are the ones kicking low fps on a shitty old computer with a single-core processor. Interesting.
I'm pretty sure there was a thread not long ago that claimed to have fixed this.
Oh yeah, that's right. Thanks for reminding me I'll just go search for i- OH WAIT SEARCH IS DISABLED. :v: But I do recall it was DispenserGUM's Source Tools. Use the registry cleaner option. It fixed it for quite a lot of people. The problem could lie in old, hidden settings being stored from past versions of the game that don't jive well with later updates. [editline]12:17PM[/editline]
TF2 is not on the source engine..
Oh so I guess the huge Source Engine logo that appears during the startup video is just there for kicks then, huh.
Where can i find this "IEMonitor.exe"?
Thats related to Internet Download Manager. If you aren't using it then don't bother.
