I used to have this, turned out it was my download manager, IDM to be precise so I uninstalled it and boom problem solved :)
Hope this helps

TF2 is not on the source engine..
His computer. Or rather the bullshit installed on it. For those that claim it's not their computer, I'm not talking about your specs, not even slightly, just the way it's set up, what you have installed, what OS. Etc etc...
And yes TF2 is on the Source Engine you jackass. If it's not on Source then what, GoldSrc?

Use google.
Example: "Team Fortress 2 crash site:Facepunch.com"

Shush you, funbox is a great map to screw around on.
The only time I crash is when I exit TF2, then steam stops responding after the crash of TF2. This started happening after the recent patch, it sucks.

Stop posting tia
Oh so I guess the huge Source Engine logo that appears during the startup video is just there for kicks then, huh.
My bad but I've always seen it referred to as the orange box engine
As when people say source engine I think CSS and DoD:S

It's just a slightly updated version of the Source Engine. It still is the Source Engine.

That's just terminology to differentiate between versions of the engine. There are currently four major versions, commonly referred to by the names of the games that first came out on them, but Valve has recently standardized it in the SDK by year. So we have Source Engine 2006, Source Engine 2007, Source Engine 2009, and then the unnamed variant that Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2 runs on. Source Engine 2007/2009 is "The Orange Box Engine", under which is TF2 (in the 2009 version).
Do any of you have AVG? Because I uninstalled it and crashing is dramatically less frequent now.
Source engine =/= Team Fortress 2.
You should stop posting right about now.

I do, I never crash.
Plus CSS now runs on Orange Box/2009 Source.

So does DoDS.

I refereed the Tf2 engine as Orange box engine.
Nevermind my post, i got it wrong.

Hopefully this is the final draw that will convince Valve to finally move HL2 and HL2EP1 to Source 2009 as well. I've been enjoying it like that on the 360 for ages, but it'd be nice to see it happen on the PC. No reason not to at this point; then we can leave Source 2006/2007 behind and have one big, unified version (except for the Left 4 Deads, of course).

Only the beta

You probably have way more memory than me.

Oh yes please. And achievements would be awesome on Half-Life 2 & Ep1. Synergy runs on the OB Engine and the difference is quite noticeable.
You're like that one guy that keeps saying that TF2 uses 1.5GB of RAM in every thread. It's just your computer. Get a better one or deal with it.

If it was TF2's fault then everyone would have it.
Wow, you come off sounding like such an idiot/hammer legion member.

Since some time, TF2 completely stopped crashing to me.
And since that time, I started to play actually only on FP server.

I'd rather crash than play on that shitty meme crap server
People seem to think that "It's your computer" means we're implying that your computer is not up to spec - this is not the case.
What we are saying is that it's probably because you're running some assclown software (like some crappy antivirus which is out of date or something) that is screwing with everything, or you've got some spyware, or your computer has hardware conflicts or you're running way too much stuff in the background. It doesn't always mean "lol you need to get better computer lol". For all we know, you could have some mods for TF2 which have screwed it up.

I have a feeling this might fix it. I seem to be one of the few people who don't crash that often, though, so I'm not too sure.

I like how you refer to antivirus software as "assclown software", I will definitely take your statement seriously. Also why would he be implying to get a new PC? You would really go out and buy a new PC because spyware is slowing you down? Some of you guys come off as clueless clowns.

Sorry to inform you, bro. The only solution to fix this is to buy a new computer or deal with it.
The crashing problem seems to be just as random as the drop system when it was initally released.
I play with highest settings, and some commands like hwmmodels to make the game look even prettier, and I get a constant 120+ fps.
Specs: 4870, AMD phenom quad @ 2.6 ghz, and 4 gigs of RAM
