I'd rather crash than play on that shitty meme crap server
Have a box.
I really doubt that any European server beats this one.

No matter how many times I reinstall my OS or TF2 I still get this error.
This is the same error i'm having.
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=923579
here's the thread I had made with a fix that somehow worked until Valve broke TF2 again
with this fix, you'll crash every 2 or 3 maps with multicore (and instantly if you cause hl2 to have the alt-tab hiatus), and after 6 or 7 maps without multicore (it'll bitch about something not being allocated, engine hunk or something)
Everyone skipped over the most useful post in the entire fucking thread.
I'm going to post this several times to get your attention:

CLICK THAT, FOLLOW IT, USE IT. I had the map loading crashing problem around a month ago, did the reset of all my video problems, and TF2 hasn't crashed on me since.
[editline]11:58AM[/editline]
God fucking damn it ninja'd
Yeah, Max Of S2D is credit to team :eng101:
That fix doesn't work for me. And for the record, TF2 just freezed on map change on XP, so scratch that 64-bit thing. God damn it. -.-
Say hello to the cause of your problem

No you idiot. CLIENT CRASHING.
It does it when you try to smooth too. Or atleast for me
cl_randomcrash 1
I tried putting it to 0, and I crashed.
Hahahahahahaha
Yeah sure it's my computer
see, even Heavy is horribly frightened
compare that with the ~600/700mb of the game in early 2008 and you'll see there's quite a problem
:butt:?
I can agree TF2 uses a lot more resources than it did on release, my computer used to be able to run it at maximum settings, now I have everything on medium settings, with AA, HDR etc turned off to try and improve performance.
Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800
2gb RAM
ATI X1800XT

Daimao, what are your specs and settings?

Your face hurts my eyes.
My tf2 crashed alot as well, turns out my laptop was just shitty and that was why.
Same here, but I'm pretty much stuck playing on a Laptop until I get my Mac (hurrdurr macs arnt for gayming lol) and can play it on Steam for Mac.

Macs are for gaming now. Oh yes.
I really wouldn't rely on the mac versions just yet
Your viewmodel hurts my eyes
What's wrong with it? (Other than the 6 slots/4 loaded ammo mishap)

Not possible.
Even HL2: Episode Two takes more RAM than that (600ish here)
Even on my laptop, that runs TF2 on ultra low, the game uses more than that
Show me a screenshot of the task manager running ABOVE the game, like I did, please, nothing proves that you didn't take a screenshot of it at the main menu (or that you took a screenshot of any other game that uses hl2.exe).
(and it even then it could still be photoshopped, derp)

Why would I lie about my specs/RAM usage? That's just pathetic.

I don't really like floating arms. :(
[editline]12:36AM[/editline]
Btw, I could care less if you believe me or not. Just saying that TF2 is not as unoptimized as you think.
(look at crysis)
Why would I lie about my specs/RAM usage? That's just pathetic.
I doubt you'll find anyone's TF2's RAM usage under 500mb, even the game didn't have such a memory footprint on release day
[editline]12:41AM[/editline]
(look at crysis)
Crysis on Very High uses less RAM, looks much nicer and runs at the same framerate on average, compared to TF2 :colbert:

Yeah sure, like 80ish items with less than 2k polys actually make a difference

The first two are pretty much subjective tbh. I think TF2 looks nicer than Crysis because of the unique artstyle. The third one is, sadly, true. I go from 100-180 in TF2 and stay around 60/70 in Crysis Warhead. :ghost:
Still, RAM shouldn't affect your performance unless you have less than is required and I'm guessing you have about 4GB as well. So what's the big deal about that anyways?

Most of the Valve hats/weapons actually have more polies than the playermodels. The Camera Beard for example has around 8500. :pwn:

Proving to all the Valve fanboys out there that TF2 is indeed completely unoptimized

Keep the polycount similar to what's already in the game. Try to keep hats under 800 polygons (...)
