What pisses me off is that valve didn't give any response on this, while my stupid game keeps crashing.
I would say it better. Mine doesn't crash but sometimes lag a bit when I disconnect from a server.
That's probably to do with sv_pure being enabled.
Not possible.
Even HL2: Episode Two takes more RAM than that (600ish here)
Even on my laptop, that runs TF2 on ultra low, the game uses more than that
Show me a screenshot of the task manager running ABOVE the game, like I did, please, nothing proves that you didn't take a screenshot of it at the main menu (or that you took a screenshot of any other game that uses hl2.exe).
(and it even then it could still be photoshopped, derp)
lol what?
My Garry's Mod, Ep2, TF2, L4D and L4D2 all run at around 400,000-500,000K at the very worst. They're normally within 350,000-400,000K
I've been getting blue screens...
Had problems with TF2 freezing (no error pop-up) since the Scout update, I finally fixed it by deleting local content, then moving the tf folder to desktop, then reinstalling.

Hmm.
there isn't only the beard ingame you know
My TF2 uses about 1.3 GB of RAM when ingame, to be honest I don't give a shit about the RAM usage, but the crash after 3 maps is pretty damn annoying.
Also my PC is well above the minimum requirements
My Tf2 uses somewhat over 1 GB

This just proves my earlier statement of how much of an idiot you are. You really think you get 7% CPU usage during game and such low memory usage? Try having the game in focus and see where that CPU usage goes, anyone can get those readouts by alt+tabbing. You shouldn't be giving out advice to buy new computers.
Prepare for amazing alt+tab!

a fresh install would probably help

This however is Singleplayer. Multiplayer uses around 1 gb.

How clueless can you possibly be? Did you even read what I posted?

I think he means when it's rendering lots of players it uses more.
Where you in a full server, or one of your own creation?

Regardless if you're in a local server or multiplayer server you can get those read-outs by alt+tabbing. They are not genuine read-outs of what the game is actually using, thus me posting my argument to disprove the garbage/more garbage Daimao has posted. The sad thing is he probably really believes that what he sees in that screenshot he posted, are real-time read-outs of what he gets while playing.
Holy crap, I forgot about this, thank you Lagosta
I'll be more clear: when you're playing in windowed-noborder mode, you can't induce the alt-tab syndrome on the game: it will keep running in the background. The only thing that will halt the client is hitting Windows + L or CTRL+ALT+DEL (on Windows 7).
Now, you see, if you're playing on fullscreen (or windowed-noborder) and produce the alt-tab syndrome, the game empties most of the stuff it had in memory (it goes down to 450MB on my machine). That's why people complain about glitched stuff when they go back in the game.
Daimao is indeed wrong :ms:
(and that's kind of surprising considering he's one of the greatest modders around, yet he doesn't know how Source actually works under the hood)

Haha. You and your silly, baseless assumptions. :buddy:

I always play in windowed without a border, you see. Now get your anal cramps sorted out and stop crying.

I think someone familiar with the Source engine through developing and coding Source mods knows a bit more of Source's inner workings than a run-of-the-mill user. ;)
