Did somebody say Toborcop?

I'd fry that for a dollar:
burn 100 Tobors
Head or Alive, you're coming with me:
Decapitate 25 Tobors.
Your move, creep:
Stun 25 Tobors
Serve the public rust:
Coat 5 Tobors with liquid at once.
Protect the innocent:
Kill a Tobor attacking the medic healing you
Uphold the jaw:
Uppercut 5 Tobors
Directive 4:
Reflect a Tobor's rocket to the player who spawned it
I work for Dick Jones!
Kill a Tobor then the player who spawned him within 10 seconds of each other.
Ne ne ne ne ne:
Kill 30 Tobors with shotguns.

I know, but it's a bit off topic, and I'm not at a computer with Civ III installed

I am still looking forwards to a Monday update
I wish the color of the bottles in-game was as bright as the backpack icon. They look kind of dull colored in-game
I want to illustrate this a little better.
Here's the backpack icon.
[thumb]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/3/3e/Backpack_Professor%27s_Pineapple.png[/thumb]
It's nice and bright, almost "Orange Juice" colored. Like a creamsicle
Here's what the item looks like in-game

Sort of a duller orange, almost like buffalo wing sauce or some kind of grapefruit/orange juice hybrid the hippies drink.
I want the really bright colors of the backpack icon. Is this a bug with the texture or something?
Official art has them even brighter! (and bigger)

Actually, that's just a compromise I had to make. Taking the image on a white background results in a literally invisible bottle but the bright colours you're looking for, the compromise was a light gray bg over a black one which I used to make difference layer and make the glass transparentish.
Long story short the colour intensity is affected by whatever background it's against.
Edit: For contrast, you'll see Valve's solution in the bp icon isn't perfect either, aka "Nah fuck off glass is solid gray cunt". I just had a good idea though so I think I may be able to do those images a little better.
I like how all of Ned's color comparison's were food related. Now I'm hungry too.

in my game it looks like the wiki shots.
I found this screenshot. Mine don't look this bright, although I am only using it on Demoman.

I wonder if it's a problem with a setting I have.
here's a better shot someone took. This is what mine looks like

It's a trap! They'll think that will we won't expect an update next Thursday once they update on Monday just like this week. Then POW major update on Thursday to surprise us...yeah that's it..that's totally it....*ends hopeful self-deceiving dream*
And there goes another week.
Not update related, but it seems some Nexon games will be available on Steam. Specially Vindictus.
I wonder if they'll re-activate the crossover event again once it's available.

I assume you guys know what I am talking about, so I won't get into detail. I recall the rewards for that quest were a Combine Mask and a Crowbar, right? Note that Vindictus uses the Source Engine. I wouldn't mind seeing that wacky korean Nexon Counter-Strike on Steam too.

I'm sorry. I just can't imagine The Heavy saying the word "dang".
So, no update? That means next week is the week.

There was a crossover in Vindictus that featured a bunch of Valve references, and Heavy was among one of them.
Yeah, I think Nexon and Valve have some kind of partnership, which lets Nexon use the Source engine in some of their games. There's this game by Nexon called Vindictus, I think it's some kind of MMO, built in the same engine. And well, they made a timed event, don't remember the year, I just know it was on April Fools, where the Heavy Weapons Guy ended up in the Vindictus dimension thanks to a broken teleporter. So basically there's a quest involving him and full of Valve games' references. I think the rewards would be a Combine Mask and a Crowbar, there was a companion cube too, I think. Anyway, since the game is going to be available on Steam too, I was wondering if they'll re-roll that event. Would bring some players for sure.

Really, it just has to be in the near future. Anything else would be too cruel.
Valve hires an economist to study virtual economies, will blog once a week with a different game and his experience with its economy.

What's interesting is the guy has never played a video game in his life, so his research will be entirely free of bias. It'll be straight facts.

you guys know how much I love TF2 related stats!

Just out of curiosity, wasn't the TF2 economy evaluated a while back to be (at that time) worth about $50 million?
Wonder what he'll think of digital items being worth so much.
I'm not sure.
But it's good they admitted the economy is all whacky and needs some more balance. Also a weird situation, is that an economy was created using currency that existed before the economy. Sort of like if we used roman coins as currency now. It's a fascinating situation that can't be replicated in this scale in real life.
Valve can't "print" more money, because you have currency that can't be printed again (like buds and bills).
I wonder if we'll see a day when all past promos are craftable, or redistributed in some way (maybe via a crate?), because without the ability to print more currency, Valve can't deflate the costs of stuff like buds.

He played space invaders!
I wonder if this news will shake the hornets' nest of traders.
In real life it would. Imagine the government hiring a world class economist, and then him saying he is studying the economy to make big changes to it in the near future.
You'd sell sell sell before the new regulations go into effect.

Now I'm intrigued about what his findings will be, and what changes Valve will do to the TF2 "economy" as a result.
not just the TF2 economy.
Right now Spiral Knights items are worth... like nothing in TF2 items. Items that might appear to be of equal value in both games (say something like the Metal Sonic Skin promo item, should be worth a similar amount to a TF2 promo) is worth considerably less.
There's no balance. TF2 controls the economy, and probably always will. It even controls the Dota economy. Everything gets converted to refined, buds, bills and keys. I guess it's like TF2 being the America of the world economy and keys, refined, buds, etc being the US Dollar.
But in a virtual economy a global currency doesn't have to, and probably shouldn't exist. It's in Valve's best interest to make items across games be worth similar values for similar rarity, otherwise other developers won't be interested in Steam trading because their items will just be used as scrap metal for the TF2 economy.
The problem with Dota at this point is what could possibly be used as a currency? If I want to trade my Dota items for nothing in particular I'm stuck with TF2 items.
