Be kind of cool if they made some kind of story connection where that heist was what actually jump started the infection. And then Valve bought the Heist IP and had a new series under their belts.
Eh, not only would that tell us more than I think the game's atmosphere can handle, but why tie it to some other IP/universe? Maybe Heist is great (no idea), but it'd still be weird if SMNC turned out to have somehow caused the events of TF2.
Then why do we have a crate #3?
They were made unobtainable and the only left crates of that series are lost in some very obscure backpacks
Series #3 Added to drop in the October 27, 2010 Patch. Removed from drop in the December 10, 2010 Patch.
THEY'VE BEEN GONE FOR TWO YEARS Now watch as the pyro is made unplayable and to bring him back we must feed the respawning machine with potatoes

If anyone wants it it will cost you of course.
Turns out the pyro's identity is someone who loves potatoes! Mystery Solved! What no we don't really think that warrants a picture just imagine it or something
Be kind of cool if they made some kind of story connection where that heist was what actually jump started the infection. Clearly the Pyro is mashed potatoes in a fireproof suit.
I will be gone for the next seven weeks, and will have no access to the Internet during that time, so here is A List of Things Valve Will do in the Next Seven Weeks: -Release Meet the Pyro -Release the Scout and Medic Grordbort sets, including weapons -Do the Tobor/mvm thing -Do the Saxxies thing -Fix the Loch-n-Load and release an actual unlockable Grenade Launcher -Fix the TF2 economy and suddenly, -Release L3ft 4 T3am D3f3nc3 of th3 Half-Portal 3
Did anyone manage to save the trailer? I missed it.
The fact that WETA went ahead and released a Medic backpack and named it something other than the "Anti-Death Ray" concerns me quite a bit. Hum.
"http://www.payday-theheist.com/ Have you ever wondered how the Left 4 Dead series began? It started with a heist!" Video description so the universes are tied together, and L4D did start because of the heist on No Mercy [editline]15th June 2012[/editline]
The fact that WETA went ahead and released a Medic backpack and named it something other than the "Anti-Death Ray" concerns me quite a bit.
The fact that WETA went ahead and released a Medic backpack and named it something other than the "Anti-Death Ray" concerns me quite a bit. Hum.
scary....
On one hand, I'd just as soon they not release a Medigun at all if they can't come up with a decent set of stats. I much prefer no Mediguns to stupid, underpowered ones. On the other hand, purely cosmetic medigun backpacks flips me the friggin' freak out. The most important class for weapons readability, and they chuck it out the door. Especially after setting a precedent with the Quick-Fix.
they also implied on their facebook those were all the items
I would suspect that they wouldn't want to shoo themselves in the foot like that -- people like new weapons whenever the Grordbort items are added, the cosmetics are rarely a top priority for people. And when the two sets were showcased earlier this year, the TF community focused primarily on the weapons, not the cosmetics. Considering that WETA makes a profit by selling real-world models of the weapons, it'd reduce the amount of products they could sell if they were to scrap the ones that they showed off earlier this year. Redesigns are one thing, but scrapping them won't sit too well with the consumers they're aiming for.

Video description so the universes are tied together, and L4D did start because of the heist on No Mercy
Uh, seems more like an unrelated event that took place before L4D.
Uh, seems more like an unrelated event that took place before L4D.
I don't think people should be taking this seriously as some sort of canonical thing, it's just a fun mashup between two games.
I'm not sure. But it's good they admitted the economy is all whacky and needs some more balance. Also a weird situation, is that an economy was created using currency that existed before the economy. Sort of like if we used roman coins as currency now. It's a fascinating situation that can't be replicated in this scale in real life. Valve can't "print" more money, because you have currency that can't be printed again (like buds and bills). I wonder if we'll see a day when all past promos are craftable, or redistributed in some way (maybe via a crate?), because without the ability to print more currency, Valve can't deflate the costs of stuff like buds.
Going off topic (and quite late) but I do love a good discussion about the TF2 economy. But I do disagree with your implication that this economy is unique. The real currency in the economy is metal (or to be more precise, weapons), and not rare items. For a currency to be successful it needs to have security, which is to say it needs to be backed by something. Here Valve are the security, we trust Valve because A) They're not going to shut down TF2 anytime soon and B) We know they print off their currency (weapons) at a predictable rate. In this analogy the rare items, like Bill's Hat and Earbuds, are like Gold and Silver. They are not a currency, this is a misconception. They are similar to the Gold standard in that traders agree they are worth a certain amount relative to the currency. There is not a constant production of Bill's Hats and Earbuds, which is why traders buy them to protect themselves against the volatility of metal prices. Metal value is volatile because during periods of low crafting (between major updates, like now) there is no reason to craft, and people will hoard them instead, resulting in large supply and low demand. The closer you look at the TF2 economy the more you'll realise how fantastically similar it is to certain 'real' economies. TL;DR Buying hats for a Refined
I don't think people should be taking this seriously as some sort of canonical thing, it's just a fun mashup between two games.
Yeah, but if we jump the shark and start to make conclusions now, we could say that the events of Payday: No Mercy were indeed a prequel to events of Left 4 Dead, the "clowns" we're looking for their biggest "prize" in their carrers and something went wrong and opened Pandora's Box... Or I just have too much imagination and free time for being friday night :v:
We're the heavy The update is the sandvich And the sniper is Valve Am i right?
I don't think people should be taking this seriously as some sort of canonical thing, it's just a fun mashup between two games.
Every game is canon to each other Sonic steals Homer Simpson's donuts and Mario had a deal with Snoop Dogg for the mushrooms
If anyone bought TPSR, you still get the Genuine Aperture Labs Hard Hat. I got mine from my purchase.
RIP mule molester & the sabotuer pistol, and the anti death ray 1827 - 2019 god bless ripen in peaces
so if I spend some time over the next few days preparing what are some things you might want that are possible via schema? I have some good ideas for a nice sized update, but there might have been stuff I didn't think of. I'll probably make a bigger write up later with my ideas, but if you have any now, feel free to shoot. [editline]16th June 2012[/editline] I don't want to work on it until after the major update, in case it brings big schema changes though. This is just a base change log, so I'm not overwhelmed with more things to add when the major update hits.
*glances at title* If only that were true
Hey one of my friends bought this stupid title for me, and I'm not paying to remove it. Funny story: He gave it to me because he openly expressed his hatred of the weapon, so to be an asshole I dominated him with it :v: Or are you referring to YOUR title? Because now I'm curious as to what the story behind that is.

sounds, some bodygroup issues, paint (if the item supports it) and some minor attribute things (but I won't do any balancing).
Paintable Iris for the monoculus! hat?
