Hmm... Well, on the TF2 blog pages for each class, all of them (except the heavy) have a background from the meet the video. The pyro's background is PLR pipeline. Perhaps we should look there?

I have a theory. What if somehow, this random junk is not only to be used as crafting ingredients in the upcoming update, but is also meant to baffle and foil idlers.

Think about it, what better way could you forcibly overload idlers than by burdening them with semi-useless junk?

also I'm pretty sure valve gives zero shits about idlers anymore dude they only gave a shit when it was an external program

hell the official wiki has a tutorial on how to do it safely

So, taking a closer look, I'm pretty darn convinced that none of these mystery crafting item icons are 3d models. I know for a fact that the Goldfish was drawn, and I'm about 90% sure the Cheesewheel is, too. The others I'm about 70% sure. This is not the norm, right? Nearly all icons for items and crafting supplies are taken from actual 3d models, correct?

I wonder if this has ANY real importance at all.

The diary looks like a model. It's probably in MtP, so that makes sense.

Everything else is drawn from the looks of it. The diary might be drawn too, just drawn better.
