that's how the best ideas work :v:
Looks like Scout's getting a backpack bodygroup.
(And before anyone tries to bring up Lucky no. 42 for the millionth time, no, that did not add a backpack bodygroup for Scout.)
What about the BBB?
Soldier got a comic.
Engineer and pyro got a comic.
Should we expect some medic and scout shenanigans?
sunbathing on 2fort (summer update). *le rocket crash* they see rocket, they open it up, theres a note, and we get an anti deathray.
What about the BBB?
it doesn't even overlap the backpack
Didn't the update that released crate 43 come on a Friday?
What about Alien Swarm.
Pro-tip: Alien swarm was actually made as a test for dota. To see if they could pull that kind of game off in source.
Also: Just as i predicted, no update this week. Cheaper items stay on the spotlight for two weeks, instead of the one week the normal more expensive ones get.
Why was it cheaper in the first place?

Late post, but I want that utility belt, if only on the vague hope that if Napy's Fashionable Megalomaniac gets in, it, the belt and the Emerald Jarate together would create the greatest mad scientist set in existence.

that utulity belt look kinda weird for a grorbort item , it look nothing futuristic or steampunk, well a bit steampunk but not much

It has to be my favourite cosmetic from both sets.

You're right, it's not steampunk like most of the other weta items so far. But it is incredibly fitting for the medic.
Plus cliche glowing test tubes are awesome.

it does and i like it alot , its just not futuristic at all
The Medic's glasses are extremly hilarious.
i'm curious what content we're going to get to supplement the update
maybe all the shit that we've wanted for ages [ papa sunshine ]

The tubes remind me of the reanimation agent from the Re-Animator movie; similar green glow and medical connection.

Hopefully something like the christmas update, some community weapons and hats.
did they cut the weapons? That'd be super lame, especially if that means the Medic backpack is a misc and isn't tied to the new, and matching Medigun. If they ever add that Medigun, it's going to be so confusing.

They are probably just hiding them till the update.

isnt the medic based on the doctor from that movie ?

Valve doesn't have a good record with Medic backpacks though.
Plus the backpack was submitted as a misc, and the goggles as a hat, meaning the backpack doesn't go to the medigun, implying to me, at least, that the weapons were cut.
Dr. Grordbort is all about guns and killing Venusian wildlife, they would never cut the weapons from the packs. If Valve would tell them to, WETA would propably stop working with Valve.
this is true actually, good point. This is basically an ad for their expensive little gun models, and without the models to sell, there's no point.
there's tons of possible factors
perhaps the models/icons reveal too much about the items functions. something valve wants secret
perhaps they haven't finished the models yet ect
well at least it seems the Medic backpack is getting the negative attention it deserves on the workshop. Maybe it'll sway Valve the right way
Half the TF2 team, or so i heard from a friend and not my wife, is play testing some weapons. There must be something up if its not the gortbort weps then maybe something else. At least we are sure that there will be some weapons coming.
Hopefully this Weta thing means we're guarenteed new weapons. Still have Spy, Heavy, Demoman and Sniper left.
And I'm growing to like Class Updates Pt 2 being spacey weapons. I hope they don't just stop now, at the half way point.

Don't get me wrong though. I think these will be the last major updates we'll be getting for TF2. But again thats what i feel, no real basis.
Oh, lovely, lovely news in the speculation thread. Bless you all.
Now the only question is: Absence of Grordbort weapons = Valve and their obsession with secrets, or Valve and their obsession with not wanting to implement stuff?
I would love a Medic comic.
I can see TF2's update cycle coming to an end. With all of the Meet The videos being done by then, it'd be a good time for closure.

I think this will be the last GIGA OMG 1089472479 WEAPONS type updates, but I think little ones like the christmas, halloween, manniversary, etc continuing on.
A team of 10 or so can whip together some half way decent small updates. As long as they have a group of diverse enough skills, they get the sounds done, the art all fixed up, and then code them, pack and ship.
Updates like Australian Christmas 2011 would be fine for me. A good 10 weapons, a huge amount of cosmetics. Nothing wrong with those updates. It's no Uber update, but then again I don't think we'll ever get one of those again.

big complaints of weta items have been them not matching and looking hilariously out of place. For example, if the Brainiac's Hairpiece had been shown earlier, we would have been able to catch that it clipped with literally every hat in existence, and they could have adjusted accordingly.
Engineer's Weta pack specifically. Those items needed to be baked a bit more before release, they have a lot of visual bugs that aren't easily fixable anymore because the items are too old.
I'd like to think that they're just in the refining stages with the weapons. Little tweaks and actually listening to feedback from the concept art. Maybe they'll update the images of their original Workshop pages, or, perhaps, they'll just dump 'em on us in an update that hits sooner rather than later. Or not.
But personally, I'm glad they decided to debut them on the Workshop this time for the same reasons you mentioned with the Hairpiece. Maybe they'll actually take constructive criticism into account.

I agree with this. Minor updates (ex. x-mas update) are cool on my book and i'm pretty sure there will be one on august or so. I don't consider the weekly (bi-weekly) updates as a minor update. Promos are also the norm now.
if they drop the backpack as a misc, they might need to make a new misc.
...or they can just have a two cosmetic set. Nothing really wrong with that, and the last 2 weta packs were like that.
