Which update was bigger in terms of hats/weapons, the Uber Update or the Mannconomy/Polycount Update? I wanna say the latter.
Which update was bigger in terms of hats/weapons, the Uber Update or the Mannconomy/Polycount Update? I wanna say the latter.
Uber Update had more weapons, Mannconomy had (way more) hats and general content (addition of the store, paint, unusuals, etc)
Which update was bigger in terms of hats/weapons, the Uber Update or the Mannconomy/Polycount Update? I wanna say the latter.
Polycount has around ~60 new items I think
Polycount has around ~60 new items I think
lots of hats, plus they counted Name Tags, Dueling Tokens and every can of paint as a "new item" The Uber update had 2 non-set based hats. The Prof Speks and the Pocket Medic. The Mannconomy had like 20 non-set hats (Dapper Topper, Napper's Respite, Pugilist's Protector, etc).
Even though I fully expect tf2 to be dethroned by dota2 as valves golden child soon, why would valve cut the throat of tf2 and stop producing regular content for it? -It has legs. Five years later it is still, consistently, steams most played game. Even during a major update drought. -It's F2P. -It's a terrific ambassador for valve. -It speaks to several different gamer types. (FPS, stealth, run and gun, tower defense) -It's an easy testing ground for new features. (eg: trading, workshop, replays, sfm) -It remains tremendously profitable. -Through promotional items it sells other games on steam to a great extent. -Major updates always make gaming news sites and in turn drag in new steam users.
Yeah, it's safe to say we're not getting another Polycount update lol
So, I searched for the item timeline on the wiki 48 items in Mannconomy 36 in Uber Update

you can damn well bet the mad hatters at valve will turn their attention 100% to dota 2 once they stop updating TF2
you can damn well bet the mad hatters at valve will turn their attention 100% to dota 2 once they stop updating TF2
You may want to sit down for this. I have some tough news.
Good day sir.
heh, one of the characters in Dota uses this line
I avoided that because it wasn't technically a major project.
Though it's ten times better than L4D2. It's a shame that they technically forgot it, they could add new weapons or even community maps.
What a load of shit it would be if TF2 got completely replaced by Dota 2.

I'd like to clarify that my stance is that we are about to see the last of the major updates. I never said TF2 will be cutoff. That's why they had the weekly updates to see how they can take advantage of the workshop and generate regular contents. TF2 and Dota 2 can coexist in my perspective. TF2 demise will only come when either the community refuses to play on its servers or when TF3 hits.
We've already been over this multiple times in this thead. Dota 2 will not replace TF2! End of the story! Good day sir.
but i never said dota 2 would replace TF2? TF2 is getting really old and the update quality is showing it, they're going to stop working on it eventually. Dota 2 isn't even out yet, that's the next best thing to work on when they stop working on TF2.
It's really depressing that people are actually feeling that it's the end. A big year for Tf2 indeed. Honestly. I want to kick off TF3. I had a plan a few weeks ago to recreate the classes in the "TF3 theme". But see that is my problem, what is the TF3 theme? Should we just continue the story and move it a few decades to present? Of course the design and art would probably be updated but in what way? If anyone wants to help me out there sure. But yeah thats my dream.

I'd say keep the artstyle, just make it a bit more modernized. Perhaps make it a sequel in the way that Super Monday Night Combat is to Monday Night Combat?
I just got called a F2P for saying that the Grordbort items are a part of TF2's theme and style nowadays. *sigh*
I also thought about this multiple times. Maybe it would be in a much darker style, like pipeline, and in the present.
a new TF would do wonders for cosmetics and item creation. Built in bodygroups, new animations, and a lot more flexibility. Not like stacking new features onto old features that cause problems later (like "painting" crit glow causing issues later when they want paintable weapons). Maybe not totally open, but enough so the community can just start fixing their own bugs.
Dota 2 is the bane of my existence
Dota 2 is the bane of my existence
Dota 2 is a good game and Valve is doing a very good job for something that's not a shooter. I'd play it more if I didn't prefer another MOBA game over it.
I'd play it more if I wasn't so terribad at it [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] and wasn't verbally assaulted because of it
I have yet to get one damn kill in DOTA2. I've played 2 matches and will not touch it again until I've watched billions and billions of tutorials.
one thing i would like to introduce in TF3 is some more interactive props. Exploding barrels, collapsible walls, smoke pipes, glass shards that actually hurt and many of these props you can move around if you're a heavy, soldier or engie. Scouts can pick up ammo and gather them in a place like how the original concept was. Spy can also disguise and or cloak the medic thats healing him. I will need a mapper (helljumper may be available and vincent) and i need a programmer. :D Apply now!
