I can code TF3 in actionscript! ...lol
one thing i would like to introduce in TF3 is some more interactive props. Exploding barrels, collapsible walls, smoke pipes, glass shards that actually hurt and many of these props you can move around if you're a heavy, soldier or engie. Scouts can pick up ammo and gather them in a place like how the original concept was. Spy can also disguise and or cloak the medic thats healing him. I will need a mapper (helljumper may be available and vincent) and i need a programmer. :D Apply now!
Can I apply to make the first wave of cosmetics? :U [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] I could also make stock melee weapons
I have yet to get one damn kill in DOTA2. I've played 2 matches and will not touch it again until I've watched billions and billions of tutorials.
that's the thing with me, I haven't found a character I am comfortable with. I was playing as Lone Druid well, until I watched a video and the guy got like 213729873 kills and carried the whole game, and I was sitting with 4 kills at the end of the game and 2 deaths thinking I was the best ever. Also in Dota, one bad player's mistake can ruin the entire game. I pushed a little too aggressively at one point, the enemy pushed way back and ended up taking the match because of it. In TF2, one bad player making a few mistakes won't even really matter at all. There's no real way a bad player can help the enemy, a bad player just hurts his own team. In Dota, a bad player not only hurts his team, he helps the enemy...
Honestly. I want to kick off TF3. I had a plan a few weeks ago to recreate the classes in the "TF3 theme". But see that is my problem, what is the TF3 theme? Should we just continue the story and move it a few decades to present? Of course the design and art would probably be updated but in what way? If anyone wants to help me out there sure. But yeah thats my dream.
Leave the art style, it's great, it's clean, and it's attractive. I'd hate to see Team Fortress 3 going "lolol modern aegs!!!" like TFC.
Can I apply to make the first wave of cosmetics? :U [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] I could also make stock melee weapons
Why not. I want it to be retroactive as much as possible, meaning you should be able to wear your hats and cosmetics with little to no modifications on the item so every item in the current game can be ported in. I think it can be done so long as we maintain the class shapes. The idea is keep the items simple to make it more GPU friendly by next few years standards and devote the spare horsepower on the environmental gimmicks and gameplay.

In all seriousness; let's say there IS a tf3; would our old TF2 items and weapons carry over? That'd sure be nice
Looking back at TFC and what was originally going to be TF2, it's safe to say Valve will come up with something completely different, with various gameplay changes. And I sure hope they won't listen as much to the community as they do sometimes with TF2. I used to think the community should be heavily involved in the process of making a game. But then I realized most of those people don't have any expercience or don't know what they're talking about. This is harder than everyone thinks. What could happen if Valve listened to the community? Gentlemen, I present you... TF2SPUF First, they'll remove the Demoman. Second, there will be the Demoknight. Third, Medieval Mode will be the main mode. Finally, there will be a Frying Pan and it will turn people into gold. no other classes allowed
To be honest I'd be COMPLETELY fine if they got a few people into the TF team and release a WHOLE cleanup update. Fixes bugs, fixes unbalanced weapons, fixes whatever's broken, upgrades engine, etc.
I think tf2 needs a break, maybe a year.
time to ask eric and andrew
I think tf2 needs a break, maybe a year.
How about half of year? Wish already granted.
I also thought about this multiple times. Maybe it would be in a much darker style, like pipeline, and in the present.
I'd like to imagine TF3 as something that would take place in the world of Robocop: 80's with some science fiction. The sets, the weapons, black comedy and even corporations looks fitting to me. But transforming the colorful art style from 60's to 80's, like Patrick Nagel? I don't know.

Yea, the 80s sci-fi style would work really well. And not some cheap pretend way of it, like Mass Effect. Real, honest to god, 80s sci-fi.
TF3 should use that old alien invasion idea. [t]http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/2/29661/1842201-invaliencommando_super.png[/t] [t]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/15/Invhumancommando.png[/t]
Is it really /that/ hard to keep the current style? I don't know what's wrong with it.

It'd be a taxing effort (and probably ain't worth it), but it'd be nice to see them give it improvements under the hood every few years.

they've spent too long building the TF2 class's personalities to start new. If they make a TF3, it'll use the same classes (and their personalities) we're familiar with.
Major Update Speculation Thread V4 : Team Fortress 3 edition
"If Valve won't make it, then we will"
so with the grordbert weapons added to the workshop does this mean that there will be an update soon?
Here are some fun facts I think you all might appreciate: 1. TF3 will never exist. That is all.
