I just want my Grodbort weapons. And maybe some other weapons too if they have them planned, damn it.
Yeah. If they would just give us the grordbort stuff this week (and thus, time to collect them before the next wave) and then start next week off with a comic on monday, some weapons and teasers throughout the week, and the actual update on thursday, I'd be quite happy. After that, maybe the summer update starting the next week, and MtP like 2 weeks to a month after, or just sometime during the summer/summer update. You know, sort of stretch all this stuff out over the next couple of months, rather than all at once. Oh yeah, and throw the saxxies in there somewhere. Ooohho, how about this: This Thursday, we get the Grordbort stuff, along with a letter reading to the tune of "You'll need this stuff to fight the impending invasion of the TOBOR menace, good luck. PS, sorry about those other four packs (heavy, sniper, spy, demo), they got shipped to Saturn by mistake. Darn Saturnians don't wanna give 'em up, but don't worry, we won't mess up the weapons when we blow the place up to get 'em back. Once retrieved, they will be sent priority rocket." And thus, a lead-in to MvM. The following Monday, MvM comic about the start of the invasion, also some hints about Pyro being a robot. Throughout the week, any new weapons are added. That Thursday, the actual MvM gametype is released, some hidden room(s) on new map(s) hinting about Pyro being a robot, like him posed in a warehouse conversing (mumbling) to some robots over some secret plans. The next monday (June 25) begins the count down to MtP, starting with a comic. New weapons for pyro throughout the week. On that Thursday, the MtP video is released, reveling Pyro to be a robot, along with any remaining weapons/cosmetics/etc. Then, either July 1st (a sunday) or July 2nd (a Monday, so, more likely, but the 1st would be cooler) starts the Summer update, which goes on for however-long, with the saxxies either somewhere during it, or at the end of it. Remaining Grordbort stuff also either during it, or at the end. At most, a few weeks after the end of all the summer stuff. Seriously, hoovy needs a space~lazer~pew~pew~light~cannon~minigun. Like, badly. And then of course, halloween and christmas/winter updates. And THAT, Valve, would make TF2012 a "big year for TF2". EDIT: fixed a speeeelingz mistake. I'm sure there are more.
Don't we usually have a double drop week before a major update?
I'm more excited than usual, because I atleast hope that the codeline "tobor_a" "14" has to do something with this thursday.
I'm more excited than usual, because I atleast hope that the codeline "tobor_a" "14" has to do something with this thursday.
tobor_a, crsk equip region, and mvm item origin makes me think something is very close. This is all groundwork schema code. 14 is irrelevant, it's just the 14th item quality.
To be fair hitscan weapons weren't the majority back when TF2 first started, if memory serves right. What all was there in the beginning? Shotgun Pistol Sniper Rifle SMG Revolver Minigun Everything was either a projectile, melee, or something else
Not including melee weapons/sapper/etc, that kinda is the majority.
Not including melee weapons/sapper/etc, that kinda is the majority.
Just like currently, where, if you don't consider things which aren't hitscan weapons, then hitscan weapons are still the majority.
they could implement the coloring for the unusual effect from dota 2 is simply a random color applied on the effect.
The thing is, we have to think outside the box when Valve said "Big year for tf2". Did anybody think of "oh this game will become free" when the Uber update said it was going to be game changing?
Melee weapons are hitscan.
Of course! This year is a big year as no updates are being released. It makes perfect sense!
Suppose they announce that ALL future weapons and items will be from the workshop, and that they will have a separate place to vote for stats and nerfs for things. That would be pretty game changing. Also, MtP being the last Meet-the-X video is a pretty big milestone as well. Although it seems to me that we will soon need a "Meet the TOBORS" video, since Sandvich got it's own video.
You guys are stupid as hell. No offence, but all Valve said is that we will get Meet the Pyro, Saxxies and two secrets during the course of 2012. Last time I checked, 2012 isn't over, yet everybody is crying "yeah, looking like a big year alright more like Valve has abandoned tf2 and moved to dota 2". Once it's 2013, you can start complaining. (getting prepared for all the boxes for speaking the truth)
Oh, I still expect MtP, Saxxies, and MvM gametype. I would say the second secret, if MvM is the first, is something to do with workshop.
Once again, it's not about the waiting, it's about the teasing leading nowhere.
"And the second secret is..............WE FIXED REPLAY! YAY! Only took us months...... That's pretty good for valve-time, right?"

That's strange, I just got a TF2 and Garry's Mod update. I've been connected to Steam this whole time, pretty strange that I'd get that update just now.
That's strange, I just got a TF2 and Garry's Mod update. I've been connected to Steam this whole time, pretty strange that I'd get that update just now.
did you not update yesterday?
did you not update yesterday?
Haven't paying attention to notifications, but it's pretty weird that it would take an entire day for me to receive an update when I've been connected to Steam the entire time, and have always received updates shorty after they go live. Just saying it's weird, not that it's anything of note.
We'll be updating some of the Steam servers today, June 12th, 2012 at approximately 15:00 PDT (GMT-0700)
:O :O :O :O :O :O (It's probably nothing)

I don't see why people expect a Summer update this year Last year, it was really just a small collection of reskins and cosmetics A community update with a crate containing all of the new hats They never said it'd be annual, did they?

As such, it should at least do something. Also, people are optimistic, because they want new weapons and items to murder each other with in spectacularly creative ways.
I still haven't lost COMPLETE hope. The update IS coming eventually. They keep adding those TOBOR sounds, meaning that they're still working on it. Whenever people start up with the doomsaying about how it's "never ever going to come", I just think of this:

oh hey cool I wonder if that means another shot at the potato hat, I kinda incredibly regret trading mine off
