I wonder if hats are still random chance? Maybe they changed it so that you get a hat every x hours (x being randomly rolled), like items now but just in longer intervals.

indeed... people don't realize that even if they had 100 dupes and crafted them together there would still be chances that they would get OTHER OLD dupes out of them and NO NEW hats !

I say craft them ONLY if they announce trading won't be added anymore.

It's all about the risk, crafting a random hat (3 metals or hat+hat) is exciting.

2 hats = 1 hat. You lose 1 hat.

Of cource you can craft dupes of hats, though.

I crafted the hatless scout (worst "hat" in game) and the yellow belt (never play sniper) together. Got me a toque, a good hat for a class that I play often. I say it was worth it.
