Also... this isn't so much about this particular set, as much as it is about the type of creation it is. I'm really sick of seeing Pyro's real stereotypes ignored and new unfitting stereotypes being created. I DO NOT like the idea of Pyro as a "blank canvas for modders", because I like all the characters in TF2 and their personalities, and I don't like that one of the characters is being constantly wrongly interpreted and the subject of out of character items.
You already said that. No need to repeat yourself, we get it.
i've missed the emporium drama
So you want fitting ideas for the pyro? Ok, I've got one right here: Grrr!
I would like to make this, a miner pyro set would be sweet, especially with a primary fueled by mine-gas, and referencing that horror film while making a mining set would be cool too.
The comment that "Pyro has no defined stereotypes" just hit my fucking berserk-button. It's the absolute worst bandwagon argument ever, and I'm really REALLY sick of all of Pyro's other stereotypes being ignored and random nonsensical or extremely vaguely fitting items get in the game just because everyone has accepted the idea that Pyro is the only class in the game who you never have to think about fitting the character when you create items. This opinion is repulsively wrong and has a very negative influence on what kind of items people make for Pyro.
You misunderstood what was stated. First seeing "The Pyro's personality is so undefined" but not fully understanding the rest of the sentence to fully understand the intended meaning. I apologize for formatting my sentence in such a way that may have confused you.
The Pyro's personality is so undefined aside from being a schizophrenic arsonist that it is not defying any class stereotypes, personalities, or appearances to a far enough extent to warrant being given to another class.
I clearly state that the Pyro is an insane arsonist. I go on to state that the set does not go far enough to warrant such an argument against him having it. My later posts elaborated upon the justification for such a set fitting within the Pyro's tendencies of using improvised/homemade weaponry. Yes, the set is a little bit of a stretch for the Pyro. However, it does not stretch to the point of absurdity or deserving of being called "retarded" -- it was justifiable through juxtaposition to real-world rural arsonists.
You already said that. No need to repeat yourself, we get it.
Obviously you do not. Also, don't expect me to be nice when you greet me with that attitude.
I would like to make this, a miner pyro set would be sweet, especially with a primary fueled by mine-gas, and referencing that horror film while making a mining set would be cool too.
Go ahead it's all yours. I'll send you my swag of reference pictures if you want them.
I actually did make the comment a lot earlier when it was still a WIP, but it was ignored. Also... this isn't so much about this particular set, as much as it is about the type of creation it is. I'm really sick of seeing Pyro's real stereotypes ignored and new unfitting stereotypes being created. I DO NOT like the idea of Pyro as a "blank canvas for modders", because I like all the characters in TF2 and their personalities, and I don't like that one of the characters is being constantly wrongly interpreted and the subject of out of character items.
my argument isn't really that it's perfectly okay to throw whatever you want on him, so much as it's not as bad as it is with the other classes. My stance has been to always be better than valve has been with the artstyle, and, frankly, we're at an all time low and will keep dropping, and my standards and this point are "can the item plausibly exist". I've always been an art style idealist, I complained that the ubersaw was too rusty and bloody when it came out :v:. In the end, I just start to accept the shift. It's much easier that way.
I would like to make this, a miner pyro set would be sweet, especially with a primary fueled by mine-gas, and referencing that horror film while making a mining set would be cool too.
pickaxe melee
My Bloody Valentine set? Nice, but the pickaxe could cause confusion between it and the other two in the game.
It's kind of hard to confuse a Pyro with a pickax with a Soldier with a pickax. Especially if the creator of a new pickax takes some creative liberties with it to distinguish it. If anything, it's easier to confuse the two picks we already have because they use the same mesh, just with a different texture on each.
However, it does not stretch to the point of absurdity or deserving of being called "retarded" -- it was justifiable through juxtaposition to real-world rural arsonists.
Not sure if you guys have noticed, but I'm not very polite when I'm frustrated or offended.
Go ahead it's all yours. I'll send you my swag of reference pictures if you want them.
I wasn't sure if you intended to make it or not which is why I made that post. I'd like to include some of the ideas from my old mining pyro concept to fill in the other misc and primary slots though, maybe a secondary too. The reference pictures would be useful too, as I know the film but i've never actually seen it. edit: I'm not sure whether to use the original rebreather mask, or the modern versions modified gp-7 gasmask, as the gp-7 wasn't around in the 1960s but I have one so could model it more accurately, but the older mask woudl be more fitting to the time period of tf2, any help on choosing which I should make?
pickaxe melee
Or just give the Equalizer/Escape plan to pyro :v:
i've missed the emporium drama
Rustling is heard outside. A sound, not unlike footsteps, makes its way closer to the Emporium. The modders look down on the Drama's dead body, then toward the direction of the footsteps. Glass is heard being broken and smashed in a different area of the Emporium. The Modders are jolted back in shock. The Drama's body is nowhere to be found. Primrose grabs Sparkwire out of fear. "No... the Drama's still here."

I haven't seen the film neither, so.

If it's any consolation, I would love to see that set in the game if it would replace the brainslug and kill its author.
Not sure if you guys have noticed, but I'm not very polite when I'm frustrated or offended.
then stop posting and CHILL OUT.

For the third time.
then stop posting and CHILL OUT.
Since when has "stop posting" been the kind of response that would encourage you to chill out? Get a grip of your manners, a friendly tone will get you a long way. Alternatively, a negative one can give you a free ride with me through the emporium pages.

This is only going to keep prolonging itself for every disagreement or point someone makes.

Maybe you should try reading. I hear that's the kind of response you should use to text.
I started on a hair "hat" model for scout that could be the beginning of a item pack together with the parking meter i made, but halfway through i realized that my hair look a-lot the heavys "hound dog" hat. So I want your opinion, should I continue with the model, or should i try to come up with something else? Image of hair: The pack I was thinking of creating was a "thugs" inspired pack.
Since when has "stop posting" been the kind of response that would encourage you to chill out?
"Stop posting" in this context implies that you should take some time away from the discussion so you can calm yourself down before posting again. Your own manners are met with the same manners, it's going to perpetuate itself until someone steps away and sucks it up or someone gets banned.
Get a grip of your manners, a friendly tone will get you a long way. Alternatively, a negative one can take you several pages.
Tu quoque.

As we would appreciate it greatly if you would refrain from contributing unneeded discussions to this thread for a short period.
NO, FUCK THIS STUPID ARGUMENT. Read this, get some real bloody inspiration, and come back with some Pyro and Halloween items that actually makes sense. Seriously. The idea that "Pyro has no defined stereotypes" is uneducated and wrong. Stop using it as a lazy excuse to put whatever the hell dumb shit that doesn't make any fucking sense on Pyro.
Normally I'd 100% agree, except when I did the alien pyro stuff no one liked it. :/
Please tell me you're not trying to shoehorn a passive secondary onto the Pyro. For the third time.
No, I was going to make this misc and primary: And attempt to think of a flaregun of some sort or leave the secondary slot.
Simski, I think it's best not to continue this. This is only going to keep prolonging itself for every disagreement or point someone makes.
If people want me to stop arguing, they need to stop arguing with me. I'm only replying because people provide me with things to reply to. I would have dropped this subject if people would have stopped arguing with me about it, or if we would have talked about another subject. Telling me to "shut up" while still arguing with me is like trying to make peace with someone by slapping them in the face.
make the misc a set with the birdcage
