OK, I was advised to post my TF2 creations here by tehMuffinMan, in order to get some help with them. The first is the Toxic Torchbug, a Pyro weapon I made to go with the Hazmat Headcase: [URL="http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=rwsxp0&s=6"]TinyPic URL[/URL] (Old pic, I'll update it when I can) The second is the Tom's Peepers, a pair of binoculars as a misc. item I intend for the Scout, though in hindsight the Sniper might be a better choice. When I first saw the knife I thought it'd be just another knife melee for soldier, but one in his teeth as a misc sounds like a great idea.

Before it came out, the whole "ecks dee Pyro is so random" thing was generally frowned upon when making Pyro Hats. At the time of the game's conception, it became a running gag on tigsource that all of the newly-made games were inspired by Cave Story in some way shape or form. When Medo was first creating the game engine, he used Quote as a placeholder until mrfredman finished the artwork -- one on RED and another on BLU. The placeholders were kept in the game as a tribute to the running gag and as an homage to the game's early days of creation. Today, they act as a bit of a wildcard when it comes to game balance -- they've been going back and forth through nerfs, buffs, and complete overhauls, since it's plain difficult to create a new style of class that isn't already covered by the other 9. Once I finish the alternate weapon project that I started earlier this summer, I might attempt to incorporate their weapon into a different class and create a subclass -- much like how the Demoknight exists in TF2 without requiring a 10th class to be made. It's still going to be a challenge to convince sentimental players and developers to let go of the class, though. Even if incorporated into another class, it will not be a perfect recreation due to size/health/speed differences between classes. Also why was this conversation taking place here instead of the GG2 thread? :v:

For the sake of simplicity, classes are sticking with their current weapon format -- no need to mix weapon switching into the concoction. Either melee is too weak once in range, too powerful once in range, the method of getting in range is too good, or the method of getting in range is abysmal. Since there's no way to actually ambush people, the class has to be a brute in order to actually kill someone, but if the class is too durable, then it will steamroll people who get in its way. The Infiltrator is the only class that can truly ambush people due to his innate invisibility whenever he stands behind someone; and his only form of melee is a 1-hit kill from any direction that is more comparable to a tauntkill due to the difficulty with trying to balance a more-accurate backstabbing mechanic in a 2d environment. Quote and Curly have this style of thing in their possession, but it is not a true melee. The Bubbler acts as a shield that can absorb bullets and syringes and defect sticky mines, but flames and blades will tear the shield apart, and the rifle and rockets will ignore the shield entirely. And players coming in contact with the shield will destroy it and deal minor damage. The Blade is a projectile with limited range. Due to it having knockback, it is most effective when used to pin someone into a wall or corner while wailing on them. It being so terrain-focused makes the class limited when in the open and very potent when the terrain allows it to be. The blades can also be used to extract a player from a group, such as separating a Healer and his patient. If I were to assign any class to get a weapon like that as a subclass, it would most likely go to Firebug, as he is the close-range specialist. How such a weapon would be explained to be in the pyromaniac's possession or even how it is used or looks is unknown at this time.
