Any got a tut on how to make items track with the eyes?
I want to add a blind eye to the heavy beard.

I was wondering if anyone could do a little project for me. I don't know how to model or texture anything like this, so I have come here for help.
I'm known in the TF2GC for having drawn this image:

It's based on my avatar originating from a previous image I had taken during the Team Fortress 2 Beta when the Medic's Uber Update items were being tested and the Gibus was buggy to all hell:

He's become kind of my signature character over time passed since Jessecar made the original avatar image.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could make some sort of model for the Medic, if possible, for SFM and possibly even actual use in the game. I even have a video planned out for him based on a previous encounter with a foreign child I had met on a server.

So I've been working on this Teddy Roosebelt replacement for about 8 hours. This is my first model and first Blender/TF2 thing ever. I've gotten this far without problems, but of course something is wrong.
First problem. The model turns completely black or very dark for seemingly no reason. (completely independent of the lighting, not a shadow) I've actually noticed it on one of the mod emporium downloads, but I have no clue what is causing it. It must be some rookie mistake, I don't know.

When I view the model in the loadout screen or model viewer, it appears completely fine. Like this:

Another slight problem, I can't get team colors to work. I have both red and blu vtf and vmt files in their proper directories. (materials\models\player\items\engineer) The VMTs point to the right files, too. It's probably a typo, but I'm really tired.

Looks like a bad illumposition, if the model is not at the origin then you need to set an illum position for the model to take lighting information from. Easiest way is to move the bone and model nearer to the origin.

On the note of chance, I was thinking of maybe making something more for TF2, then I calculated the stats.
There have been [B]119[/B] items accepted into the game as of now
There have been [B]5361[/B] items submitted all time (including accepted)
That leaves you with a [B]2.2% chance[/B] your item will get in. The odds against increase with each item submitted to the workshop.

Pretty much finished the torso now. A thought has struck me though. Should I keep the standard legs, or swing the way of the medic and give him treads, or even thrusters?

While this is true, it's also true that a huge chunk of those submissions are of too low quality to run a decent risk of getting into the game. This means the odds are slightly more in favor of decent item-makers than your numbers imply.

Also, I drew a Sniper Rifle with a crutch for a handle some time ago and Constructor modeled it. I'm not sure what happened to it, but I think it's waiting to be textured by someone.

Yeah, Valve has made terrible some terrible decisions regarding which items to put in the game. I think it's pretty alright, it doesn't break art style but there are a lot of problems caused by Valve but also a lot caused by the creator.
Regardless of original texture quality, I'm against it on account of my stance against hats based on random historical stereotypes.
