Submit it. I like it, but it's a bit too plain. Prehaps change the texture abit? Or make it an allclass.

If fully 3D snakes make the polycount over the recommended limit, than a normal map might be a good solution but, I would personal prefer fully 3D snakes, since I don't think a normal map would pop out as much as I would like. The snakes are a big feature of the knife, so they should be very prominent. I'm no modeler though.

Going by the picture of the knife, the snakes should be normal mapped, they don't stick out of the knife, but the edges of them are carved/pressed in it.
I don't think I'll go over the limit if I keep the number of snakes as it is now. I was, however, thinking of sculpting the head+snakes and just normalmapping it, but I'm not sure how that would turn out; plus it would require me to learn sculpting, which considering my previous experience in Mudbox isn't fun.

Modelers usually bake their own AOs, the texturer doesn't have to do that
same for making UVs.

A bit too busy and overly detailed for such a small item. The dark spots around the loop/teeth/whatever you call those shouldn't be so dark (or there at all really), the paint strokes are very saturated and very clustered. The text is a bit unsavory too. Not bad.
Let Deoderant have a go too though. Especially if you told him he could first.
