I have $20. Which modeler whose work(s) is/are in the game deserves my money?
all of them who GETS the money is another question and is entirely up to you, what class you play, your playstyle, and your tastes
I have $20. Which modeler whose work(s) is/are in the game deserves my money?
Any map creators in my opinion.
I like everyone and everything.
What class do you main?
I like everyone and everything.
Are you going to keep replying with that?
Buy a stamps set then get a scorch shot or something. Always get the stamps though, as much as modelers work they must admit that mapping is much harder and time consuming.
I like everyone and everything.
buy keys and unlock all the crates you undoubtedly have sitting in your inventory youll get a bunch of shit for sure but you at least have a decent chance at getting an unusual maybe :)
Does anybody have some concepts that i could practice modeling with? Edit: Pageking, have a shitty test bat update
Does anybody have some concepts that i could practice modeling with?
how about a giant direct hit scope as a rocket launcher actually that concept is open for everyone to do, someone do that, make a giant scope as a rocket launcher copyrite 2012 me dnot steel
get a scorch shot or something
What he said.
I have $20. Which modeler whose work(s) is/are in the game deserves my money?
There's a whole bunch of amazing community stuff in the game, but I think the most esthetically underrated such items are the Big Earner, the Tam O' Shanter and L'inspecteur. EDIT: Oh, yeah. Map stamps. Mappers get a terrible money/work ratio.

Buy a Conquistador. Poor guy doesn't make anything (lowest selling hat in the store by a huge margin)
Buy a Conquistador. Poor guy doesn't make anything (lowest selling hat in the store by a huge margin)
Cause it's ugly.
the way you can see the heavy's eyes kind of scares me
GOOD.
Buy a Conquistador. Poor guy doesn't make anything (lowest selling hat in the store by a huge margin)
Really? Huh. It's not that bad looking of a hat, if not just a tiny bit plain. Probably because it's not paintable.
As no one seems interested in textureing my hat, not that I blame you, would anyone have any Halloween set concepts? I feel like making something for NotLU2, but have no original ideas. [sp]I'll make a book/tv show into a set! It works for movies![/sp]
There's a rumble in Teufort tonight! Gotta remodel that wrench; not only did I seriously fuck up the triangles (you can see the terrible terrible shading caused by bad triangle work) but I also took a look at one of my dad's truck wrenches in the garage and realized I seriously goofed on the design. But that's the melee for this pack. I took out the tuft of hair that was sticking out of the pompador because it looked terrible, to be sure. I'm also not doing the burnt up "Sometimes They Come Back" face because... well... I tried and you know? It's really hard for me to do charred flesh. I did however add a toothpick! Not sure what to do about his legs... to be honest, I wanted to do rolled up cuffs, but his pants are really hard to work with as it is and I couldn't do it without it looking bad, so I might just leave it be. Besides, the Teufort Tooth Kickers are there and that's kinda rockabilly, close enough really.
ok, so i figured out how to mark seams, but when i try to unwrap it... Does anyone know how to fix this?
I am going to make a bat hanging on a string through an idea with a friend. Not gonna lie, doing something that isn't geometrical figures was hard as fuck, but good practice, this thing looks horrible. My only question though is, is this too detailed? Agree/Disagree please. Re-Animator Medic, Vashta Nerada Pyro, Clockwork Orange Spy, Sin City Heavy, Falling Down Soldier (I tried that one once, didn't quite work out so well), Tremors Sniper, Repo Men Demoman, Westworld Engineer...
Yo guys I'm back from three days of sailing in the Stockholm archipelago. It was cool. Venezuelan asked me to design a motorcycle-inspired minigun, so here's another piece of VERY CLAIMED concept art that you can look at and maybe even lick if you really want to, but not model. Do you think it's fitting? I may have gone slightly overboard with the rust, but I wanted to avoid an overly clean Pomson look. Also aaaaagh aaaagh what the aaagh fucking aaagh aaaaaaagh shit is this and aaaaagh aaaagh when did it aaaagh happen?
No. My main quarrel with this is that you are trying to put the motorcycle motif in such a manner that doesn't seem a natural design. It looks too customised, almost a scratch-built weapon themed after a motorcycle, while TF2's weaponry, with the Pyro as a notable exception, are all either stock weapons customised to purpose by the mercenaries they belong to. In addition, several parts of it seem to be areas of questionable design. The rear handle looks too flimsy for such a supposedly heavy weapon, and while I appreciate that both 1) you're designing this for a game that is essentially ultra-violent Pixar-esque slapstick and b) you are theming the weapon after a motorcycle and thus the connotation is obvious, it does lead to the fridge logic of how such a flimsy bar can really support a gun of that size without deforming. Bars on motorcycles typically aren't working against gravity. If this were sturdier, than that might help. None of the parts really seem to be cohesive enough to work as a minigun either. Despite designing for TF2 which, to reiterate, is like a slapstick cartoon, weapons still look like weapons. Shotguns have pumps and shell ejectors, pistols have magazines, rocket launchers still have areas for the backblast to escape though. This design, at present, doesn't seem to connotate "minigun" to me aside from the position and shape of the handles. Where is the ammo drum? How do the rounds enter the chamber? Do the barrel(s) rotate, or is it styled like the Tomislav? Where exactly should the bullets come out when fired? Is it even meant to shoot bullets? I also find your presentation somewhat lacking as well. How is a modeler supposed to tell what the parts look like without the other perspectives to help inform them? Having more than one perspective in my opinion really sells it as a design that the modelers MUST do, so they know more about what you're thinking about when drawing. If I were designing this, fallible as I am like any other human [sp]perhaps even more so[/sp], I would really call this more of a concept sketch than a finished design honestly. I am fully aware of my lack of presence on this forum so this post, discounting it's size, might even be rightfully ignored, but I do really ultimately want the best from any design. I even respect the sheer number of concepts you dispense. Certainly you work far faster than I do, but perhaps you need to slow down and self-critique more
this thing looks horrible.
Better than what I can do, man. I say keep up the good work!
-how rude of me- You need to shade smooth the wings first. It also overall looks like a mess.
What do you mean shade smooth?
What do you mean shade smooth?
The wings look shaded flat. The edges are sharp. Shading it smooth will make the model... well, smooth. You have the body smooth shaded but not the wings
I already have it. lol
Buy another one then. Buy 6 of them.
The wings look shaded flat. The edges are sharp. Shading it smooth will make the model... well, smooth. You have the body smooth shaded but not the wings
Ah alright, yeah that is because I haven't put too much effort into the wings just yet. I just wanted to know if the general premise of what I was doing was good and not wasted effort.
So wait, are you saying we aren't allowed to have the freedom of customizing our concepts and weapons to fit into other ideas? Where in the world is the fun and freedom in that? Everything looks drab and boring when people aren't allowed to put customized twists onto them as if they where manufactured that way.
