OS: get Win7 while you still can before Win8 rolls in

CPU: definitely do upgrade it, Pentium processors are crap

GPU: you could possibly use an upgrade, but it's not terribly necessary compared to CPU and OS

RAM: you could nudge it up to 8 GB, but you'll need to have a 64-bit OS, but you should be able to escape with 4 GB

I can only go for a 300$ spending limit since I have no job.

CPU was my main concern.
