Had a similar idea. It was basically a Flamethrower with reduced damage but you could use it to temporarily "paint" the walls and floors with fire. For example, you could run backwards while aiming at the ground to create a trail of fire in front of you to keep people from pursuing you. Or, you could spray the area in front of a doorway or in front of a drop to create traps. The fire would last a random amount of time between 4-6 seconds and would light you up and do Flamethrower-esque damage if you walked through it. I called it: The Afterburner.
You have some pretty awesome ideas there. I wouldn't mind seeing a few of them in-game. Pocketlifter seems like a pretty cool little tool, but I suggest a few alterations to it. First, switch it to secondary slot. Secondly, make it so that once you've stolen the ammo, you have to dispense it on the ground in order to steal again, or give it to an ally. Other than that, I love it. Also, the Heartbreaker reminds me of the Soul Reaver, especially with that flame-bladed design.
Hmm ... I think that this is a good idea, but it's treading too much on the role of the demoman - area denial, and also to a lesser exent the engineer. The oil slick is essentially a nerfed sticky carpet with afterburn.
Imagine what a pyro/dispenser combo in the intelligence room could do with this.
Homewrecker + this = gg spy
I say normal mapping is off in the render.
And the gas must be visable in some way or it will get unbalanced.
