And you don't have to avoid complaining about the robro infront of me, you're free to express your opinions however you feel.
its liek gay shit In seriousness, I would've liked it more if people didn't initially attach it to their virtual dick and wave it around because of it's price. I know that's a not a proper reason to dislike something but you know what I mean.
I doubt I would mind pretty much any hat or misc so long as there was a canon explanation as to why it is in the game. Perfect example being the scout elf set and soldier santa set in A Smissmas Story. Community items made canon via community service as a mall santa/elf. Throw in bit in a comic about the Robros being surveyor bots for the robot invasion or something of the like and tie in the description about them spying on the classes and I'd like the item a lot more.
The big deal with pets in TF2 is that very few of the classes actually seem like they'd keep a pet. Engy and Medic are the only ones, and they've been given pets, but certainly not in the best way. I prefer that things in the game stay at least slightly plausible, but bringing a dose of avian warfare into this is just plain silly. That's 3 birds for 3 different classes, to go with one restricted hallucination, one terrified moggy and one robot which I think would be a bit unfitting to whine about in this particular post. [editline]beans[/editline] The issue with a stuffed owl is that it's ridiculous to bring one into battle, just about as much as bringing a live owl stapled to your shoulder, but for arguably different reasons.
Is this really such a big deal? It's just a small cosmetic item. And are you seriously bringing up ~TF2 lore~ as an argument against it? You should know by now that a large quantity of TF2 items are silly jokes that play solely on the classes' appearances. Since when in TF2 lore was the Demoman a pirate? It's a massive running gag entirely attributed to his eyepatch, and I find it absolutely hilarious. If you don't, then don't make your Demoman a pirate. You don't think your Sniper would enjoy keeping a pet owl? Put a snazzy sweater vest on instead and blow out the brains of all the owl-loving degenerates in the name of your anti-avian crusade (which is a silly way of saying just play the goddamn game). It's not always about the characters - Valve has made it clear that they like playing off of the cartoony style, since having this style allows them to go far beyond what they could do in other games with more gritty and serious atmospheres. TF2 is a cartoon. It's about overly-patriotic soldiers with obscured eyes launching themselves across the sky using explosions while disproportionately huge Russians mow down enemies with comically large guns as their crazy German companions tend to their wounds with medical heal beams. It's FUNNY. I would much rather have these silly cosmetics with silly names and silly descriptions to expand the game's ongoing humor and appearance instead of Gunmetal-Grey-n-Wood Gun Pack #32, which is all we would ever get if TF2 followed the 'original art style' that everyone always bitches about being lost.
TF2s lore is so hilariously inconsistent you should take it as seriously as you would take a garfield strip
People who make items complaining about unfitting items, if you are not happy, just recompile all the models you don't like by blank(invisible) items, problem solved. No one cares how unfitting things are at the end of the day, you don't have time to look at items while shooting other players or running with the inteligence.
This will make for an excellent sequel to pyromania.wmv

TF2's artstyle got ruined many years ago, who cares if they adds cosmetric pets into the game.
Oh god, the guy who predicted koth_viaduct_event_event was right!
Yeah but this is like, Hat Simulator, not Pet Simulator like, go play sims pets or something, yeah
I'd love to get more pet items in tf2. I think they're great.
I'd love to get more pet items in tf2. I think they're great.
I dislike most of them. I like the Robro but cant get my hands on one for a less than an arm and 3/4 of a leg. And Archimedes isnt bad but I dislike the blood not being a style. The other pets I dont like at all. Especially the cat. That being said, it really depends on the pet being added. Im sure there are hundreds of good ones to be added, just waiting to see them.
I personally think the Pocket Purrer was the single most stupid cosmetic addition to be added to the game.
I personally think the Pocket Purrer was the single most stupid cosmetic addition to be added to the game.
Hi there.
Hi there.
Nope, I think it's still more stupid.
Nope, I think it's still more stupid.
While it all comes down to opinion, that hat really is the worst thing they have added.
I wonder how will new gibuses will look like.
Gibus with a raccoon tail or a merasmus horn from his hat.
well Ned is going to be dissapointed
While it all comes down to opinion, that hat really is the worst thing they have added.
Battle Bob. Low-res texture, low-poly model, badly made, unfitting to the entire personality of the Soldier and generally an eyesore made even worse by the paintability, because nobody can take this mess of a hat seriously enough to paint it anything not absolutely terrible.
Pet items are overrated and pointless as all hell. An owl has no ties to any of the classes, and Archimedes at least has a point to be in-game as he's heavily referenced in recent Meet the Team videos and other official TF2 media. The parrot was the last straw with pet items, and the Balloonicorn at least is Pyrovision only. The fact that an owl would even perch on someones shoulder in a warzone without getting spooked by all the gunfire, explosions and whatnot is even more ridiculous. Other than that, the texture work is bland, and Sniper would probably have skinned it before befriending it. :siren: :siren: :siren: :siren: :siren:
IN MY OPINION
:siren: :siren: :siren: :siren: :siren:
TF2's silly, it's supposed to be silly. That's why people explode into a big colorful mist of blood when you kill them, that's why you see these grizzled, otherwise terrifying mercenaries, wearing colorful hats. Pet items are meant to be fun and more unique means of expressing yourself than hats. imho :v:
The second longest day ever in my life.
I better be able to flame feet my axtinghuisher Also hoot hoot
I better be able to flame feet my axtinghuisher Also hoot hoot
Aren't you happy your howl got in?
Looks like it's time to prepare my Haunted Brundle Bundle set. The rest seemed uninteresting... except for Soldier but I didn't want to ass myself with spending a week to get it. Van Hellsing set was total shit. Not even worth it. I've seen soooo much better Van Hellsing sets.
Aren't you happy your howl got in?
It doesnt critglow.
I'd love to get more pet items in tf2. I think they're great.
To me, it's a matter of how fitting and well made they are. I don't like companion pets that are "just because", but I do like ones that can fit the character's stereotypes well. I don't mind the owl, since owls are not strictly spooky and Halloween related, owls can be trained for falconry which fits Sniper as a hunter and someone that could find a farsighted predator companion useful, and because he's well experienced with wild animals and training owls for falconry requires more skill and patience.

I love the kit because it's not only funny when hardened TF2 players start swearing and asking who keeps shooting them with the "piss-gun" but how amazing it is even up to this day.
