I actually want those people to go
fuck them
Without the paypal economy, TF2 will die a lot faster, whether any of you like it or not.
On what grounds did you make that statement? No, seriously, tell me, or I'll just assume that you're one of those people who see TF2 as your way to make money, rather than an actual game.
Here's how I define shark from my profile.

Woah buddy you're applying WAY to much real life and real consequence into your videogames.

I think that's a bit of an unfair statement, since most sharks prey on those who don't even know that TF2 items actually have some sort of a value, it's not their fault for not doing any research.

I honestly believe it's just kids in general getting stupider. Anything I'm about to get into I research the fuck out of.

It's their loss if they figure it out after trading whatever.
Do you think Valve would ever introduce that "trade steam wallet funds" thing they were kicking about? That would certainly lessen a perceived need for middlemen in high value trades.
That's still almost worthless. Real money pays for anything in the world. Steam wallet funds... pay for only Steam games and game shop items. I have a Max Head because I preordered Sam & Max 3. I'd sell it for $70 paypal, but I wouldn't give a fuck to receive $70 in Steam wallet funds. Fuck that, I have over 120 games and I hardly play any of them.

this is completely correct and I don't see why he's being rated dumb.

but what defines value? In the store a Cozy Camper is worth more than most hats, and yet its "trade value" is significantly less than that.
So it's kind of hard for Valve to really crack down on this, since there's no right or wrong value to items that can easily be used to crack down on rules. You can't make rules about an arbitrary thing, as people place different value on different things.
Which makes me think there's way more to this story, or that Valve is only really cracking down on launderers and true scammers
I'm also going to stop entering raffle at tf2r, since tf2r is one side trades, someone could easily get me trade banned..
That's ok, nothing of value is going to be missed. :v:

I didn't say I was going to stop raffling
plan to do a mega fucking unusual raffle if valve responds.

Good luck with getting a response, if they are as friendly as they are to me to you that means you'll be waiting 4 months.
Valve should just get rid of trading. From their point of view, It would reduce the hours wasted by their support staff having to respond to scams and would require most players to actually buy the item they want from the store.
I think I accidentally just got my friend banned, I lent him my self made key so he could prove to a friend that they exist, and he decided to toss me his spare amputator in the trade; he instantly traded it back but later that day he was banned out of no where, removing all his steam community privileges except talking to people and playing games.
Tomorrow I will see if I can strike up a convo with DF. I know he probably isn't the best one to go to but hes my only connection and I really don't feel like waiting half a week to get what I didn't ask for from support.
Eh this is good
Valve was never intending for people to be selling some hat with flying dicks effects for like $200

R.i.p unusual trading. All that's left will be trading for hats you'd actually want to wear. Few can withstand even thinking of such horror.
I'm so glad I don't trade like that. Whatever happens doesn't effect me.
oh boy here we go
i can see people reporting random people for sharking.
just amazing!!!!!!!!!

That's not a very good reason to trade away the self-made key. At all.
If you want to show someone an item you can show it in chat no matter if it's in your backpack or not, you can link to any item in anyone's backpack, you can check the wiki, you can see/send a screenshot.
I really don't understand.

I have a feeling your friend did something else. Just the fact that he got banned within the same day raises some concerns that it may not have to do with that trade at all.

It's not good.
While I don't like how some people made tf2 their second source of income (I am sure that tons of people have already made over $1000 with tf2. Some probably even over $10,000) it's good that it's possible to sell your unneeded items for money.
Some people like shiny hats and value time over money so they rather spend $1500 on one than trying to trade themselves up for a year.
I'm not worried. I still middleman for spycrabs and I have no worry for being trade banned.
[editline]elgkje[/editline]
I've been doing it since I heard about it, no risk, no worried. I even still broker.

Welp, it's all just panic. Move along.
TLDR:
Primrose's friend was not banned because of the trade. He was banned for harassing other players. He got community banned which also blocks trading.
Keron from Las Fortress was banned because he took in a few hijacked items. After he contacted support everything was taken care of
Joosh was banned for scamming, although it's agreeable that due to botched evidence and false claims he was set up. The same probably happened to Skip, although you can't be sure because he didn't explain why Skip was banned.

Isn't that a breach of their privacy policy to give out info on specific users?
Isn't that a breach of their privacy policy to give out info on specific users?
Doubt it, It's only enough to explain that everything was justified. There's also a difference between giving out personal info and general info.
I'm willing to take it down if he wants me to, however.
I told everyone and had a hunch this was all hysteria.
Oh well, case closed.
You people worry too much.
