I extinguish all my allies but I've never had a thank you :frown: Someday I will...someday.
i wish it were like being a medic. Thanks for most heals. i always say thanks when i get extinguished or healed no matter what
You're pretty much not going to get a thanks from it. I never have, and I'm forced - yes, FORCED - into Pyro a lot. If you want thanks for extinguishing, you're pretty much have to use Jarate. The airblast extinguish sound can be pretty easily missed if there's combat nearby, and typically speaking if they're moving towards the enemy, you're going to get them from behind anyway. And besides that, pretty much everybody hates Pyros, regardless of what they do. I once stood in front of a sentry of a respawning Engineer and reflected/took rockets until he could get back to repair it. I didn't even have anyone assist me as they came by, much less get a thanks from the Engineer.
EVERYONE hates Pyro. All Pyros are w+m1ing, even if they use their flaregun/shotgun, even if they reflect rockets and stickies, even if they extinguish burning allies, even if they're dominating your sorry ass. They're ALWAYS just another w+m1 Pyro, no exceptions. Really, I've stopped giving a shit about the people saying the pyro is just w+m1, becuse no matter if I main with the flaregun/shotgun, help my allies, and is on top of the fucking scoreboard, someone is always going to be exclaim "You're a noob for playing pyro, it's just w+m1 anyway".
This is why Valve needs to add more tips to the loading screen. They've added so many game mechanics since the first release.

I agree with this, and make the tips easier to see. So all the beginners can see the tips clearly.
http://www.fpsbanana.com/guis/20854
It's strange how few players actually know about this, I had a medic who was healing me scream at me over the mic when I airblasted to extinguish him because he thought I'd got confused about which team I was on and was trying to attack him :frown:
holy shit! Nice find![/sarcasm]
Ugh. I can't believe this. Does no one listen in games!? "Hey, you there! Pyro! Use your airblast and extinguish that Scout next to you!" "Dude, get over here and extinguish me!" "Stop! Wait! I'm on fire! Extinguish me!" "I'm on fir- Oh, wait, a Skillburner Pyro. No sense there." "You should really help all these other guys who are on fire." And they never do. For the longest time I thought I was practically the only one who ever did this.

I do sometimes, but mostly I just consider them an annoying background element.

"The Neglected Pyros"
-snip- no automerge today
Be the kind of pyro everyone actually likes and extinguish your burning allies!
Your avatar fits with my reaction upon reading this thread. [editline]02:06PM[/editline]
holy shit! Nice find![/sarcasm]
Holy shit! You're funny![/sarcasm]
I knew this. What I didn't know until recently is that the pistol auto fires at the max speed when you hold the button down. When was that added?
I personally don't often listen to people with microphones. I do sometimes, but mostly I just consider them an annoying background element.
You probably should, lots of useful stuff to be heard. "[name], Spy behind you!"
You probably should, lots of useful stuff to be heard. "[name], Spy behind you!"
Rarely hear that, I'm pretty good at checking my back though... Like, since I react pretty quickly to the sound of uncloaking, the only spies who ever get to me are either ambassador spies who stand a mile away doing a snipers job or the ones that get me while I'm shooting at someone else who's attacking me. Oh and, Joykillers, the spies who go up behind me when everyone have agreed to melee/picnic/spycrab/sniperhump etc.
Almost every single time I extinguish someone they take time to say Thanks!
good pyros use the airblast on burning teammates. bad pyros don't.
I hate these burning scouts who run past a pyro back to the base. All I can do is scream into my mic to stay the fuck here and let me put them out.
Am I the only one who thinks pyros are underpowered?
i use the airblast. I have never ever been airblasted myself by a pyro team mate
Backburner is really not that special. Air blast is useful for separating ubercharged enemies and the extinguishing team mates is best.
I though the losing animations were a mod when i first saw them, checked 5 servers for them
I try and extinguish my teammates as much as possible. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside. Plus it stops them calling me useless. :3:
Another overlooked ability is that a Heavy can drop his sandvich for a teammate! :eng101:
Having the backburner is useful for avoiding things like this
:barf:
Same with sandviches.People run around screaming for medic and dying, when I try to give them my sandvich.
The late of the year award goes to OP
Holy old news, Batman!
why do you all act surprise about this coming from a guy who made this thread
Lighting Arrows on fire. You must know that.
How do you do that? shoot fire at a sniper while he knocks his arrow?
