I guess any saize, just make sure it looks good resized to 184x.
It turns out that you can use up to 256x256, the full sized image is just below that at 250x250 so all you need to do is make it a .TGA and it's ready.
I can make a TGA a direct spray?
If I'm correct a TGA is the only format accepted by Source, if source works with PNG's then by all means go ahead and use the original.
Just checked, it takes .TGA, .JPG, .BMP, or .VTF's.
