This is the first that I, along with many others I assume, have heard of it. Generally when something is the most popular of a thing like the spreadsheet is for pricing, It is hard to displace. The only counter-example I can think of is TF2 Outpost replacing Trade Post.
Well stats.tf displaced tf2stats as far as I have seen.
bwahaha, the spreadsheet guy got caught red handed fixing prices for his own gain http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2trade/comments/yk9ji/psa_i_believe_the_tf2_pricing_spreadsheet_at/ and http://tf2spreadsheet.blogspot.com/2012/08/integrity-of-spreadsheet.html
Hmm... rate me dumb but that guy had an idea how to get rich in TF2. He created a spreadsheet that he can control, so that he could lower a price of X item to get it and then raise it to sell it for a profit. I didn't played TF2 back at the hat for weapon age (which I am ashamed of, because I didn't had any money back then), but creating something like that sure would come in handy. And now he "rules the whole TF2 community" dictating his prices.
Sigh. Valve doesn't care about its 2 flagship series, half life and tf2, anymore. They're just like "yeah just give them whatever makes them shut up" or nothing at all when it comes to hl.
This is why we need a "shut the fuck up" rating.
This isn't your blog. NO ONE FUCKING CARES.
Rude.

Anyone else think the wave-specific music is too similar? At least at the start of them, it's hard to discriminate between them, even though it doesn't technically matter.
So are people finally going to stop treating this list like the word of god?
Depends if everyone (us, reddit, SUF, and anyone else) does a mass boycott
So are people finally going to stop treating this list like the word of god?
He is a false prophet, I am the true god. That being the case, buds are now officially worth 2 reclaimed. You can praise my name later.
Anyone up for setting up an all-voucher game? Add me on steam if you're interested. Currently is myself and Seiteki, let's hope to get more.
Anyone up for setting up an all-voucher game? Add me on steam if you're interested. Currently is myself and Seiteki, let's hope to get more.
sounds cool, maybe tomorrow :D my steam id is intellectualbadass
He is a false prophet, I am the true god. That being the case, buds are now officially worth 2 reclaimed. You can praise my name later.
You know if pretty much everyone started insisting this was the case, then I'm fairly certain it would actually happen.
He is a false prophet, I am the true god. That being the case, buds are now officially worth 2 reclaimed. You can praise my name later.
By the powers of the internets! Let us see this happen
You know if pretty much everyone started insisting this was the case, then I'm fairly certain it would actually happen.
They're worth 2 reclaimed, I mean they're not exactly rare.
They're worth 2 reclaimed, I mean they're not exactly rare.
Buds are actually extremely rare as far as most items go and are worth a lot more than 2 reclaimed. They're currency nowadays.
As a trader myself, I can attest that the spreadsheet isn't as dominant in the market as many would think. Even before the fiasco, the spreadsheet is already not supported by many of the top traders. I think the tf2 economist would agree on this as well.
Anyone up for setting up an all-voucher game? Add me on steam if you're interested. Currently is myself and Seiteki, let's hope to get more.
Can I still join if I don't have a voucher?
There's 100k+ of them, they're certainly not rare. They're just in high demand for god knows what.
100k+ is nothing compared to the number of players- and most of them were probably people that bought it for mac and then never touched it again. [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline]
Can I still join if I don't have a voucher?
Sorry, that defeats the purpose of it (the purpose is loads of items). Why not just get one? They're only two bucks.
They're worth 2 reclaimed, I mean they're not exactly rare.
They are worth 2 reclaimed. Of course they are. How could anyone possibly question that? [sp];)[/sp]
The spreadsheet was informative if you don't know any better, but when it comes to rarer or high demand items you would be wise in making it your business to know what they're worth anyway.
If I have a Backbiter's Billycock, and the other person has a Fast Learner and we both mutually want each other's items, why should the latter feel obligated to push the former for more, despite both setting the value that they're willing to pay already.
There's 100k+ of them, they're certainly not rare. They're just in high demand for god knows what.
Basically you can boil down the buds as top currency with high demand. Other items may be rarer but the demand is low. To many doubting the buds appearance as not as good as others, think of it as a misc with a unique unusual effect that can be worn by all the classes that you can never get again aside from trading. This is what many traders would like you to believe.
if they're not going to let us trade space bucks for items, eventually an alternate form of currency would have been created no matter what. If it wasn't buds, it could very well be gibuses. Just a baseline price that's rare enough to be stable, but common enough to be traded in large numbers. The only problem with that comes from buds being a cosmetic item some people might actually want to wear. It's why I think we need tier 4 and tier 5 metals, as those are "useless" in that sense, would basically just be TF2's own sort of stable currency.

Frankly even friends do that to each other. Generating "revenue" or "income" is what our modern society created in the pursuit of an upgraded status. It's nothing new or exclusive only to the TF2 scene. And yes I wish to go back to our barter times if I could.
Sorry for the change of gears to something that's a little late, but wouldn't the botkiller guns look far better if they had the barrel jammed through the Heavy head's jaw, so it's like he's spitting bullets at you?

I think it was smart of valve to let the TF2 economy grow on its own and didnt introduce an official (or semi-official in the case of the tier 4-5 idea you have) currency. Honestly, I find it really nice that something worth 9 keys such as a strange machina can be used directly to play in the game.

I want a 3-ref-metal-X and a 3-metalX-metalY, and maybe even a 3-metalY-metalZ What should we hypothetically call these tiers? Scrap -> Reclaimed -> Refined -> "Polished?" -> "Federal Reserve"? -> "Experimental"? Oooo, or "Mithril", 'cause Mithril is freakin' awesome. Anyone have any ideas?
