DX8 is old they should just drop it.

PS3 owners got shafted hard on TF2, and this could be their apology. Plus I bet they'd be more supportive of promos, trading, and M+KB/PS Move controls. That's just me, though. I'm personally happy with the PC version and I bet anyone who's seriously into TF2 has already gone PC and doesn't wanna look back.

I'm on dx11, but I agree that people just don't understand that some people genuinely have no cash at all. When I was 16 I had to save up for t-shirts, if a game I loved had stopped supporting for my computer back then I would had no idea about changing the graphics card, and if I did it would have been a christmas or birthday present where could have got a new game or something instead. Point is just because it easy for you to imagine being in dire straits and still affording a new card, doesn't mean people actually can.

.89% of Steam users use DX8. There's a reason DX8 is dropped on new Source games, and it's that reason.

Because the france I live in barely has any jobs for anyone under 20, and even if you're older than that there aren't jobs for everyone. PC gaming is way too costly as is. It says it supports DX8 on the box.

So that % isn't accurate.

If they do up the engine some performance issues would be fixed as well, I think. So maybe the people who use DX8 out of necessity wouldn't have to anymore (and couldn't, either, but you get my point)
