I'm probably speaking out of my ass, but can't servers be made to manually lose connection to the item server?
Probably, but it's just as easy to have a whitelist consisting of nothing.
I've heard several people say that they have started vanilla servers only to be met with absolutely no-one using them. And no, it's not about the lack of advertising. If there actually were people who want a "vanilla mode", they would find these servers.
The majority of people who complain about artstyle and new weapons and stupid shit like that, I've found, are incapable of finding Vanilla Servers. Otherwise their complaints wouldn't exist.
I'd like that they implemented a ping system so we could focus targets in MvM way better.
I'm really glad they never implemented any more "Full Moon" type items. That, and the introduction of Salvaged Crates are the two dumbest ideas Valve ever implemented into the game of TF2, in my opinion. I really hope the idea of part-time items is dead forever.
That Dota 2 tourney, weren't it? Yeah, now that's done, and CS:GO is out, where will the resources flow this time? Here's hoping a fun new IP, or at least an adaptation of a university project. Hell i'd settle for a reimagining of the Left 4 Dead franchise nowadays.
they did say they have something coming down the pipe for l4d2, revealing more of the origin of the virus
The majority of people who complain about artstyle and new weapons and stupid shit like that, I've found, are incapable of finding Vanilla Servers. If a classic mode had official support from Valve, I'm pretty sure a lot more people would be playing it.
they did say they have something coming down the pipe for l4d2, revealing more of the origin of the virus
I've always liked how they never really told us how Green Flu came around, but sounds intresting.
I find it weird that you can wear a giant christmas present on your head every day of the year, but not a little seal mask or werewolf hair.
I feel like if someone was just able to approach Robin in person, bring up "Full Moon" items in conversation, then casually say "Christmas Tree Vibrator hat, Robin. Christmas Tree Vibrator hat," he'd hang his head in utter humiliation and the issue would be solved by the very next morning.
they did say they have something coming down the pipe for l4d2, revealing more of the origin of the virus
i think the names for the l4d games are ironic because thats what valve ends up doing with them
they did say they have something coming down the pipe for l4d2, revealing more of the origin of the virus
I thought that was just the Payday campaign.
I thought that was just the Payday campaign.
Chet confirmed that as non-canon.
I thought that was just the Payday campaign.
can't find the quote, but they said they had something that was actual canon
I've always liked how they never really told us how Green Flu came around, but sounds interesting.
They're gonna reveal stuff about the virus, eh? Sounds like it's time to place our bets, will it be a disease from a distant tropical jungle, or will it have been a military experiment? I anticipate this new Left 4 Dead stuff greatly.

I anticipate this new Left 4 Dead stuff greatly.
Maybe it's a slightly different Half-Life Universe where the Resonance Cascade only transported a headcrab-esque virus and went relatively undetected until it started infecting people. I only suggest this to excite those guys who want all of Valve's games to be one story. Because I'm one evil motherfucker.
The thought of the virus being extraterrestrial would be kinda cool, though it'd take the franchise in a mostly-unperceived direction if the virus were revealed to be an alien bio-weapon, and a massive twist that introduces something that was up until then unrelated doesn't sound like the wisest implementation. However, if it were handled gently, like survivors heading towards an abandoned military base with documents detailing a certain "Arrowhead Project" or "designated breach" or whatever, that'd probably be subtle enough to slide it in without much "BLAM".
The point of my idea was to make some annoying people get all tinfoily.
I don't want L4D being turned into an alien story; sure, it would be pretty cool, but it wouldn't be a stereotypical zombie story anymore. Should this make L4D1&2 updated a lot more, however, I'd support it fully.

Wait this is the TF2 update speculation thread.

really only the paper bags, monoculus and pumpkin head should be restricted (and obviously the two seasonal noise makers). Everything else is just kind of pointless being restricted.
TF2 ending? Truly you're joking? They just implemented enough new stuff to keep them rolling in money for another decade and to fund therapy to overcome their aversion to the number 3
Things I say at 3:30 at night.
I like how every single year the community makes dozens and dozens are really awesome community items for Halloween and Valve always seem to only accept like 5 of them. I hope this year they go all out and finally give us a community made Halloween update. So many great Halloween items on the workshop right now.
I like how every single year the community makes dozens and dozens are really awesome community items for Team Fortress 2 and Valve always seem to only accept like 3 of them.
Fixed.
I still think they should implement an official "TF2 Classic Mode", where cosmetics and unlockables are disabled. I know vanilla servers exist, but an official mode would be absolutely fantastic to make it more popular, and it would allow more people to get the original experience. With all the other things they've implemented, I don't think this is asking for too much.
Stuck in the past are we?
last year we got 5 (2 miscs, 1 hat, 2 reskins) the year before we got 2 (2 hats)
Gentlemen, we lost Scarabix for good. Something's gonna happen! :v:
personally I'd love to see http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=89013292 this get implemented and hopefully They"ll be like the botkiller weapons and not the festives
