If the dispenser feature is added, all I would do is sit next to a sentry and see how long it takes the Engineer to realise they haven't even built a dispenser It really has a possibility for evil though, when you think about it. Imagine being on 1hp, seeing a dispenser, turning your back to it and thinking you are safe, but suddenly it runs away. Creepy.
Now all I can think of is a dispenser on legs that runs away from everyone, like the opposite of a sentry buster.
Now all I can think of is a dispenser on legs that runs away from everyone, like the opposite of a sentry buster.
This gave me the idea for a Greased Pig gamemode, 6 spies try to catch a run away dispenser. First one to sap it wins.
Spy (vs Sniper) update part deux, please. Just skip Scout and Heavy, nobody likes them.
And then all the tryhards screamed.
so what's this dispenser disguise thing?
so what's this dispenser disguise thing?
MvM added an unused attribute for Spy where he can duck and be turned into an enemy dispenser and walk really fast.
MvM added an unused attribute for Spy where he can duck and be turned into an enemy dispenser and walk really fast.
i think thats really cute :3
It's not cute when you have a spy running at the speed of a fully charged BFB scout on your server though. Then it gets funny again when he crouches and the enemy team starts gathering around him.
I hope if they implement the hologram, that your own players see the hologram as a hologram (as in, the same style as the ones over the point), so they know it's fake. You're not trying to trick your allies, so it's important it looks different for them.
I could have sworn I remembered a watch from Night of the Living Update (or one of those bigass community updates) that had that "creates a hologram" trait.
is a sentry fooled by the fakes?
is a sentry fooled by the fakes?
I don't think there's any point in testing this at the moment - if Valve decided to make it a thing, they'd also fix this as technically it's a "disguise"
This gave me the idea for a Greased Pig gamemode, 6 spies try to catch a run away dispenser. First one to sap it wins.
I guess it would still count as Mann vs Machine, right?
I guess it would still count as Mann vs Machine, right?
It's clearly a dispenser on legs, like the Sentry Buster. Except smaller.
I had an idea a while ago for a disguise kit... It'd keep you hidden from effects while still dealing damage (for example, if a Pyro ignites you, you'll be burning and teammates will see you on fire, but enemies won't), with the downside that the disguise is SO GOOD, friendly sentries will see you as an enemy. So you'll need to be cautious about where/how you disguise yourself and use your cloak at the proper times. I dunno, it's an old idea I came up with in like 2 minutes, could work with some tinkering.
Oh, that could be interesting. Sapping sentries with no disguise isn't impossible, just really complicated. Better forget about stab'n'sap. But overriding the most effective spycheck methods would be totally worth it.

disguise kit: + spy can disguise as buildings - spy can be sapped
disguise kit: + spy can disguise as buildings - spy can be sapped
Spy sapping my...spy?
I don't think they will add a new disguise kit
Well, this makes sense. I was trying out the addcond 49 command. With it active, for myself it only appeared I could disguise as an engineer, it even showed up on the thirdperson mask. Does this happen to the enemy team too? Also when undisguised I have a spy mask on. [editline]9th September 2012[/editline]
I don't think they will add a new disguise kit
If they add one, it'll be tied with the knife.
I don't think they will add a new disguise kit
That doesn't line up with why that dispenser disguise was snuck in.
new disguise is linked to the sapper you become the buildings you destroy
That doesn't line up with why that dispenser disguise was snuck in.
Disguises themselves are associated with the knife slot since it would cause conflicts with the YER if there were a new disguise kit slot.
New sapper. + Disguises as the building sapped + Building silently disappers - Engineer sees that his building is still up, but somethings don't alter, like the ammo count on your Dispenser, or how much ammo you have on your Sentry
I think it's a horrible idea because the engineer will do what all engineers do to their buildings. Whack it with a wrench. It'd be like the disciplinary action + spy incidents except common as hell.
I prefer the point of disguises to be of a guy disguising as other guys, not a guy disguising as a sentry gun. It's just completely missing the realism point of the disguise kit.
but.......WHAT IF IT'S LEVEL 3?
Refill ammo, repair, hit it for the sake of hitting it. It's as if you've never seen an Engineer with a level 3 sentry before.
The item server appears to be dead [editline]9th September 2012[/editline] ...and it's back up
