I doubt this is gonna cause much impact, apart from modders/programmers not having to reverse-engineer every single thing anymore in order to make Source-related stuff. It's like when the source code of the original Metroid came around years ago, I doubt it's going to cause Also, doesn't TF2 uses a more recent build (2009 or so) of the Source engine, like what happens with Portal 2, L4D, etc..?
You're missing the part where potential hack creators now have access to an entire version of Source, one which is only outdated by a couple years of minimal optimisations, additions and updates.
Okay, so after reading that Ghost Report (which by the way, how was it found, and why was it not mentioned in this thread?), and seeing that it bears resemblance to 2Fort...
Ghost report?
-dumb snip 2-
Where was that found?
Where was that found?

You round the corner, there it is! The intel is sitting right on the desk, it couldn't get any easier! You fought all this way through the Red teams base so you waste no time in grabbing it. As you do this you knock a few papers off the desk that the intelligence briefcase was sitting on. You look down to the tile floor only for one folder to catch your eye. "What's this?" you think to yourself as you lift it off the ground and open it.
I guess I went a little over-hyped, though, as this doesn't seem to be...too relevant to the next Halloween update.
I think a version of sd_doomsday that is deserted and everything is run down and derelict would be cool as a halloween map. Maybe even with the ghost of Poopy Joe in the workshop. But I would have no problem if it is more MvM stuff. Would be cool. Though I like the theory that the ghost hands are hinting at something related to Engie's lost hand. Imagine a huge hand boss that turns into the Gunslinger in MvM. Haha.
This leak + the potential uses for exploits = dropping DX8 support and moving to newer source? Probably not but a man can dream...

It's like saying that removing the radio option on the next version of Android is going to be benefical because "radio is for old people and nobody listens to it anymore"
well someone is eager http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92927895&searchtext=
Omigod I want that horned hat. It won't immediately benefit Source, but it will once there's more work put into it that improve where dx8 held it back.
Omigod I want that horned hat. I want that hat. Give it to me. NOW. Make it all-class pl0x.
first time I see Lord Exor excited about something. We need to get this hat
I can actually fix real bugs with TF2, although I highly doubt Valve would ever accept hacked code.
Aww.....but still.....if you offered them a couple of long-sought-after fixes to long-complained-about problems..... I wonder if they might not still accept it (after making sure it's all "clean" or "safe" or whatever). ---------------- On another note, I finished watching "Supernatural" (tv series) recently on netflix, and now I really want a proper long-barreled Colt for the spy..... Like, a proper early 1900's Colt. Heh, being so old, it would even fit the art style. Anyone know of a really nice Colt (or Colt-like) model in the workshop? Something like one of these: Also quite interesting, in my Google image searching, I found this crazy thing, might make for an interesting weapon itself. Should certainly inspire some interesting stats.
New Apple product EarPods, I want it in tf2 naow.

Developers have to spend additional time and resources so that the game is compatable with it.
I wish we could have convinced everyone to only make weapons for workshop, so Valve would be forced to make weapon stats.
I wish we could have convinced everyone to only make weapons for workshop, so Valve would be forced to make weapon stats.
Ha, no, Valve would just turn every single one of them into reskins and not care.
Imagine DX8 as internet explorer. The only time when DX8 support is going to be dropped, I think, is when a whole new version of Source comes out, and I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon knowing Valve Time mechanics

Kinda late but I used to think Legion was just a brain. And while I wasn't exactly wrong... it's much more fucked up than just spooky.

Hopefully they're going to make a point to cool it with the companion items, since I'm sure the sudden influx is only going to encourage more. Robro really toed the line between okay and not okay. I think we're in danger of going down a path that'll lead TF2 to becoming like an mmorpgarlyf, with tons of distracting pets and whatnot. I mean, this is cool, don't get me wrong, but it's exactly the wrong sort of way to take things. (This is admittedly coming from extreme bias, but Spooky Joe seems like an exception, being a transparent ghost and all.)
every new cosmetic idea has always led us down a path of darkness, but it's never really happened (except for the times they added hats with stats and hats that conflict with weapons, but besides those)
Psyke discovered the boss for this years Christmas update:
I wonder if they'll actually do a comic/story for halloween and set it after MvM, it's not something they can ignore since the mercs are jobless.
Really hoping they add the baleful beacon this time. I dont understand the hate reskins are getting even more so. Just treat it like a cosmetic. A cheap cosmetic you can get for the same price as the other thing :v: The next logical step is to want hats with stats. Dont do it valve.
I hope they add decalable bag-masks this year. I hoped they'd do that last year, what with Manniversery coming like 2 weeks before Halloween and introducing decals. It's sad that they introduced decals, made them usable on like 3 or 4 items, and then ignored them entirely.
I really don't like the whole status quo change, and I hope they get back around to RED and BLU fighting again.
Disagree entirely. MvM is a big friggin' deal for TF2, so it makes sense that things should change a lot in canon. To retcon it or reset it lessens the impact.

To retcon it or reset it lessens the impact.
I agree, but they did say that the events of MvM were "sometime in the future" so Valve can easily go back and forth in the timeline just as Valve added the Doomsday map this year based off of the Poopy Joe story from 2009.
Summary of events that have happened during the 1h (D)DoS on Facepunch: <nothing!> Because nothing happened, have a status check on those subpar XCOM promos:
