PM me and I'll tell bender
Where's the fun in that? :v:
So you could know what one needed to do. Mostly for documentation purposes. [editline]22nd September 2012[/editline]
PM me and I'll tell bender
Will do.
I could never use an exploit like this. I'd feel dirty.
I'd say it's serious to the point where innocent people could get punished if Valve was angry that the exploit got out, which is why I'm not spreading it around and keeping mostly vague about it.
So? Their fault for using the exploit, only difference between publicly disclosing it is a larger surge of people start to use it which pushes for a patch quicker. Remember the loadout weapon exploit where any class could get any weapon, that was only patched because 30 of us went around griefing with it, the exploit had been out of months and reported to valve but they did jackshit about it until we abused it. Just saying.

It's essentially stealing. Assuming that is what is happening here of course.
It's essentially stealing. Assuming that is what is happening here of course.
Along the lines of that, yes.
Exploits aren't fun unless they break gameplay.
I wish there was an exploit to get Robin's Rocket Launcher :v:
They should keep exploits like this in the game, might make me consider actually getting a mann up ticket.
They should keep exploits like this in the game, might make me consider actually getting a mann up ticket.
Didn't know whether to rate funny or agree :I
We still have updates to come, but I think what I'll be most disappointed about this year is not getting a decent hat for my pyro. I don't want a serious death mask or a spoon taped to the pyros head, I want nice hat. Something fun like the napper's respite, but not silly like the waxy wayfinder. Something cool but subtle like the vintage merryweather, but not unfitting and serious like the last breath. I know people love randumb or serious stuff on the pyro, but come on valve, just one classy pyro hat for the minority please.

I could never answer the "Non-rundumb Pyro Hat" problem.

I don't like it. It's cool, but it really just does not at all look fitting to have a full body fire-retardant suit look formal. It's not unfitting in a "crazy" type of way either, nor does it look like anything related to Pyromaniacs or anything related to Pyro's stereotypes. It's just formal clothing shoehorned on Pyro for no other reason than because "it looks cool". I'm not saying Valve won't add it, because I really believe that whoever handled the visual design of the game is either working on something else or has been fired or something, but it's still an item I don't think should be in the game for pretty much the same reason as the Dr Dapper's Topper, it just doesn't belong on the character. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] I guess it would not be one of the worst sets, but there are still plenty of items for Pyro I want one hell of a lot more. Pyro does not really need even more stereotypes that has no what so ever connection to his original character and visual design.

[t]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/a/a4/Handyman%27s_Handle.png[/t] I'd rather have "15 minutes of Flame" that looks really great but doesn't have much to do with the Pyro than this.

Because, it will just be a reason for MORE cosmetics that does not fit pyro. If someone gives Pyro a bunch of formal items, then sure as hell more people are going to jump on the bandwagon and make formal items for Pyro since it is now an accepted stereotype. No, give him some of the sets that are new but still related to his original character and visual design, not more random items that look cool/funny. Also, we sure as hell have enough items based on the "wacky crazy" stereotype, I'm not saying that stereotype is wrong, I'm saying it's been done to death already and we could use some sets that actually expand on some more recognizable stereotypes that fits his personality/visual design/playstyle etc.
Well, one of the points of the Pyro is that no one knows what he is; from that you can do pretty much anything with backstory and cosmetics. After all, we have Pyroland. If I had to add another set for the Pyro that is unrelated to what we have, I'd add this: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=16203 But if I had to add something that fits the original character, I'd add this. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2901 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=14646 Both looks great in my opinion. And even if a cosmetic doesn't fit the character much, but looks good, it doesn't really matter as people will still try to have it. I don't support that way of thinking but it went that way. And the same goes for other classes.
Well, one of the points of the Pyro is that no one knows what he is; from that you can do pretty much anything with backstory and cosmetics.
I really, REALLY hate this excuse for making random unfitting things for Pyro. There's plenty of stereotypes around Pyromaniacs, Arsonists, Pyrotechnicians, people that wear gas masks, people that wear full body protective suits, psycho killers, mysterious and scary, faceless and anonymous henchmen, etc. Just because you don't know his real identity, does not mean that every item that implies a new background explanation is a fitting idea, it is really quite the opposite of enforcing the mysterious identity stereotype. Just because he has a mysterious identity does not mean you need to fill the gap, it would be a lot better if you worked on ideas that expand on the idea of Pyro being mysterious with more items based on stereotypically mysterious characters.

Making some subtle suggestions of what his interests maybe is fine, and as fitting as the themes are you suggested they're just too plain for a chracter in TF2, pyro's thing is that he's saddistic yet somehow silly and confused, so the beanie, brigade helm and merryweather can sit nicely together, because only giving mysterious and scary items is boring. Saying that I agree that doesn't mean you can just stick whatever you like on the pyro because of his his vague profile, there's a balance in my opinion, a fine line between humourus suggestions about what and who the pyro is and randumb cosmetics.

There doesn't exist enough community items in the game with this design for you to make that claim. There's enough "wacky silly and confused" items in the game already, let some serious things get in the game now. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] Silly, confused, wacky, dumb, and random items are incredibly overdone

idiot box guy is so awkward
Did someone call for a non-randumb Pyro hat?
Well, one of the points of the Pyro is that no one knows what he is; from that you can do pretty much anything with backstory and cosmetics. IMHO there's been several non-fitting hats for all the classes. I don't get what would be fitting or unfitting anymore. If we try to add more fitting ones the unfitting ones will still be there, so there's really no point. Plus having the same theme for every character would get boring. Just my 0.02.
yeah, but it's not like we need more unfitting hats
I always thought that the pyro was just kind of a childish character, and that pyroland just kind of reinforced that.
Pyro's basically whatever you want to interpret him to be because he has no real sound 'character'. Pyroland offered some insight without really revealing anything and leaving a lot open to interpretation.
Pyro's basically whatever you want to interpret him to be because he has no real sound 'character'. You guys just assume that "mysterious" is the lack of background rather than as a stereotype of its own. There's plenty of characters that are mysterious without having a thousand random professions and wearing random stuff on their head.

I just said people are free to interpret the character however they please, which they've been doing since before hats came into play with things like gender.
